Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Sloshing Sound When Turn On The Car - Water In Passenger Floor
Starting yesterday I noticed that I could hear a sloshing sound when I turn the car. It sounds like pouring water. After some driving around my neighborhood I've found that I hear the sloshing sound ONLY when the AC is on and when I turn left. It also has a sizzle sound that reminds me of dropping bacon in a hot pan.
I laid down in the floor and looked up under the dash. It looks like there's a motor and it's leaking water. That doesn't sound like a motor should be wet...The motor type thing appears to be a cylinder and says Bosch GM-M on it along with some numbers.
The carpet mat in the floor is getting a bit wet as well so that leads me to believe that something under there is leaking water and I can assume that it's leaking onto something hot creating the sizzle sound.
Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Wheels Screeching When Turn All The Way To The Left
Just got my timing belt replaced along with the accessory belts and the water pump. I noticed that now my wheels screech when i turn the wheel all the way to the left. This happens mostly when i am pulling in or out of parking spots as that is the only time i need to turn my wheel all the way. I also noticed that when i first turn on my car for the first time in the day, i have high rpms. The rpm returns to normal after i put it in reverse or drive. I didn't have this problem before.
View 5 RepliesElantra MD (2010-15) :: Creaking In All Four Wheels
Since it was about 16 months old, my 2012 Elantra Limited has been producing a creaking noise in all four wheels. It appears to be related to the brakes somehow, as I am most able to reproduce it by...
(a) braking while going over a bumpy road. (The creaks are heard when the car gets jostled even slightly and are short in duration.)
(b) braking and then turning sharply into a driveway that begins with a steep incline. (The creaks are heard while accelerating or coasting, but shortly after braking, in all four wheels as each wheel hits the incline. The creaks are long in duration.)
(c) sometimes just driving slowly over bumps.
The issue seems to improve the longer the car is driven - but it doesn't go away.
I've had the car looked at numerous times by three different dealerships. The first couldn't reproduce the issue. The second only did a visual inspection. The third worked with me as I reproduced the issue for them, found some wear and tear in the front ball joints, boots, bushings, and sway bar (and replaced them), and lubed the braking system components in all four corners of the car. Alas, the issue persists, same as before.
I've driven loaner Elantras and Sonatas and haven't had this problem with any of them. The service department at the dealership is happy to continue working with me, but cannot replace anything that isn't clearly defective or malfunctioning. (Another dealership did that and the fallout from Hyundai hit me as well as them - so I agree that this is reasonable.) For now, they're considering this problem normal body flex noise. The next step would be to get an engineer from Hyundai involved.
Is it normal? On my car, it can be VERY loud as the corners of the car move up and down - again, either while braking or shortly after braking. It now has a little over 40,000 miles and is over 4 years old.
Hyundai - Elantra :: Rumbling Sound That Corresponds To The Wheels Moving At Least About 15 - 20 Mph
I recently bought a 2009 Hyundai Elantra Touring. It only has 53,000 miles but I notice a rumbling sound that corresponds to the wheels moving at least about 15 - 20 mph. It's FWD and the front two tires were replaced recently by the previous owner. The mechanic who checked it out before I bought it thought that it was the rear bearings, but when he looked at the tires, he was pretty sure the sound was coming from the tires. I don't mind the noise, but if it's not the tires, it's something I should fix.
I took it to a shop today and the mechanic today and he drove around with me and though the sound was coming from the front of the car and thought it was either something with the rotors or the bearings. I've gotten the speed upwards of 70mph on the highway and I wouldn't say the sound gets any worse when you do that. (I mean you can still hear it, but for instance I didn't even notice it on my first test drive, and the radio mostly drowns it out.) Also given that these two mechanics can't seem to tell whether the sound is from the front or the back, I'm not sure that rotating the tires and listening is going to be useful as a lay person.
It's not a "clunk da clunk" sound, rather it's like a vacuum cleaner hum. Also maybe relevant, the rotors and pads on the rear wheels need to be replaced pretty soon.
Elantra MD (2010-15) :: Loud Squeak Coming From The Wheels In The Front
I have been hearing a loud squeek coming from the wheels in the front. It sounds like a brake wear bar but isn't it a little early to replace the pads already? I searched the forum last night briefly and found some threads where people commented the brakes should last much much longer than 50000.
I do not ride my brakes and I don't think I am hard on them. They still work great and do not feel worn. The noise is constant (not only when i turn the wheel) and it goes away after a certain speed.
Kia - Spectra :: 2009 - Clop Sound As The Wheels Turn That Echoes Back
I have a 2009 Kia Spectra with around 119,000 miles on it. A while back ago I started noticing my car making a clop clop clop sound as the wheels turn that echoes back at me when I drive by a building etc... It almost sounds like a horse trotting. First, what is the nature of this problem ? And, secondly, is this something that will be expensive to repair ? And, thirdly, is this something that could be potentially dangerous the longer I let it go ?

View 9 RepliesCamry :: 2010 XLE - Scraping Sound When Going From R To D With Wheels Turned
Have a 2010 Camry XLE, 47000 miles. I'm beginning to notice a weird, almost like "scraping" sound when I go from reverse to Drive with the wheels turned when it's cold. It only seems to happen when it's cold (sitting overnight in a garage). Once the car's warmed up and even allowed to sit for 8 hours in a parking lot in the sun, I don't notice the sound. The sound isn't horrible, nor is it loud, but it's definitely a noise that shouldn't be occurring.
View 2 RepliesPrius (2010-12) :: Sound From Rear Wheels When Jacking Up
Yesterday when I jacked up my car to switch to winter tires I hear this clicking sound, every stroke I turned the jack it will make that sound and it continues until my wheel is off the ground then it will stop. It only came from the rear 2 wheels and it happened when I jacked up the front and the back (more noticeable when jacking up the back).
I continue anyway, but today when I am driving down a parking lot (down hill turning) I hear this bumping sound from the back (sounds like bouncing basketball), it will go away if I stop but continues once I start driving again. I stop the car on flat ground and examined the tires and found nothing odd. Then when I restart the car the sound went away.
Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Clacking Noise Coming From The Right Side Of Engine
My 2005 Hyundai Elantra starts immediately, but you hear a clacking noise coming from the right side of the engine. It stops when the car warms up. It sounds as if some part is slapping or banging against something in the engine. The car starts and runs just fine. There is no hesitation at all while driving or when stopped at traffic light.

Car is making a clacking sound, and when i press on the gas to rev it several time my CEL flashes. pulled each wiring harness for my coil pack, and they all seem to be good still. What may be wrong? maybe spark plugs? if that was the case wouldn't pulling the wiring harness from each one pinpoint a certain plug that is loose? i changed my plugs last week, but had no problems until today when i started my car even drove it last night with no issues..???

View 7 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F350 - Loud Clacking Clunking Sound Coming Directly From Trans
With the tranny in neutral and clutch out is when it is the loudest. With the clutch in their is 0 noise. The sound is a spinning clacketing sound best I can describe. The clutch is 2yrs old and was installed by a local shop using all OEM parts, the fluid level is perfect and looks brand new. The sound has come on gradually over the past 6 months but now can be felt thru the floor at the top of the gears as a rumble. The funny thing is that their are no performance issues like grinding, popping out of gear, hard shifting, etc.
This is not rolling gear mesh it is very loud clacking clunking sound coming directly from the tranny, not the transfer case, nor rears or u joints. This is standing still. Sometimes it will be a little less loud if I roll to a stop in neutral with the clutch out as opposed to gearing down to a stop push clutch in goto neutral and letting clutch out.

I find if i jump in the car and turn the key quickly to start it sputters but doesn't turn over. When i try again a second time its always ok.
Happens a lot after i fill my tank, seems to never give issues if i turn the key to the on position and give it a couple seconds till i start it.
I have an injen cold air intake, and magnaflow muffler don't know if those would contribute to the problem? Should i take it to hyundai and let them take a look.
I also notice when i start my car the rpm jumps to 2000 and then drops down, i run synthetic oil and Hyundai filters.
