Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Steering Wheel Shimmy From About 30 Mph Or Up
My wife's Corolla has 71k on it. She recently had tires put on, and now she has a shimmy from about 30mph on up. It seems worst at 60-65. In all of my years, this is a classic example of a tire(s) out of balance.
I've taken it back to the shop that replaced the tires twice to make sure they're balanced, and then took it to a second shop to be certain that the first shop was on the up and up and actually balanced the tires. Everything checks out as being balanced.
Another possible cause could be a bad/worn out axle. The whole front suspension was rebuilt 9,000 miles ago. Everything checks out and there are no leaks anywhere. So that rules that this as well.
What else could it be? Is it possible that one (or more) of the new tires are out of round? Maybe a bent rim? But is seems awfully coincidental that this only started happening after the tires were replaced. What might be the cause of this mystery shimmy?
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Steering Wheel Vibrating Over 70mph?
So what is the deal with this whole steering wheel vibrating over 70mph? I have new balanced tires and the alignment has been done already. The steering wheel has a very annoying mild shake over 70mph on the highway. When I went back to the tire shop I saw the guy rebalance all 4 tires correctly. They told me to look into getting all alignment done. The car has 123,000 miles and had the 2 front struts replaced at 83,000 miles.

I've got a 2009 Corolla LE. Everything is factory, no remote start, alarm or rust module.. It is equipped with smart start and has about 73000km on the vehicle.
The beep is rather loud, louder than seatbelt and seems to be coming from dash near the steering wheel. I have disconnected the battery hoping to reset something but the darn thing keeps beeping every 30 seconds even while it's disconnected!
Strangely enough I haven't found much on this it must be a very uncommon problem.
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: While Shifting Vibrations Through Steering Wheel And Vehicle?
I have a 2009 Corolla LE. I've had these issues since buying the car last year. Issue #1 : when initially accelerating from a stop through 1st and 2nd gears, there's a slight vibration felt through the steering wheel and vehicle. If it's just a gentle acceleration it typically doesn't aggravate the issue as much as a quicker acceleration. Issue #2 : This car is very sensitive to varying types of road conditions. One patch of road can seem smooth as silk. Then another patch will feel rough and bumpy. The road appears to have no bumps or imperfections. I just put brand new tires on the other day, and its still doing this. And I feel all of the road imperfections the most through the steering wheel. I'll briefly take my hands off the steering wheel to see if I feel it in the cabin, and its not as bad as it is through the steering wheel.

As the title says, the leather on my 2010 S steering wheel is flaking and peeling. There was a bad spot in the leather of the original wheel at the 12 o'clock position when I took delivery. The dealership replaced it and now the new wheel is doing the exact same thing in a different spot. It is from the 7 to 9 o'clock position. Nothing rubs in this area, I do not put my hand in this area, I don't wear anything sharp on my hands like rings and there is no way my skin is rough enough to shred leather so I am assuming it is some sort of defect in the material.

I have 2010 Corolla S with manual transmission and ever since I bought this car I've been having issues with it's steering especially on the highway between 60-70 mph when the behavior is the worst.
The car is really hard to keep inline and even though I try to keep the steering wheel centered the car just bounces around the lane from left to right. I'm sure most of you know what I'm referring to.Now, I involved my dealer into this problem few months ago and the service manager (when I pressed him during the test drive) kind of admitted that he knows what I mean but he can't do anything about it until Toyota Corporate issues an official fix to it.
Surprise surprise, I just found TSB-014010 (URL...) last week online which seems to be the fix I'm looking for and based on the comments on this forum and edmunds.com it seems to either fix completely or mostly fix the issue for the people who had it done already.
However when trying to show this TSB to my dealer's service (the same service manager as before) and schedule the appoitment I notice that they are very defensive about it and try to dismiss my claims with statements like: "they all drive like that" or "it may be tire preasure" or "based on the description that you gave us and the TSB it's not the same issue" .
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Airbag Removal To Change Steering Wheel Lights
I'm trying to remove the airbag so I can get to the steering wheel lights to change them. I took the covers off of each side of the steering wheel, expecting to find T30 torx screws to take off so that I can remove the airbag, but there seem to be no screws at all holding it in! Am I missing something here? Will have pictures in a couple minutes.
Not sure why my pictures aren't working, here are the links :

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: 2011 - ASWC Steering Wheel Control Unit?
The song/radio station will automatically switch on its own randomly without my intervention.
I emailed the company, and they said to have me ground the unit to the chassis (had it grounded to same ground as aftermarket Kenwood radio), which I grounded it to the factory radio bracket screw (didn't change anything). I am using the 8011 Metra harness, which they said works for 2011 Corollas.
They suggested using the harness that comes with the unit (which you would need to splice into factory wires to do, messy, undesirable, did not do).
So far, what I've done was replace JUST the control unit with a new one, and now it is less frequently switching (1-3times every other 45min car ride, as opposed to 1-3times each car ride). So the frequency is much, much less, but still occurring.
The company suggests trying to replace the harness with another 70-8114 harness (have not done).
What else could be the cause? I was thinking about putting aluminum foil over the unit to stop interference. .

I just got a 2013 Corolla Saturday (manual transmission). So far, I love the car, but I think I'm having a problem with the steering column. When I turn the steering wheel in a parked position, I can hear an audible "rubbing" noise coming from the column. I called the dealership, and spoke not only to the service department, but also to my salesman, who has one too. He says he's never heard that, and the service department assures me it's normal and is because it's an electric motor now instead of a fluid power steering system.
So, do I have reason to be concerned? Experienced this after only 300 or so miles on a new car? We traded a Scion IQ for this Corolla (didn't like the CVT whine in the IQ), and never heard anything like this.

Occasionally, when I play songs, I hear my speakers kind of buzzing, where they sound like they are going bad.

Also, if I have installed footwell LEDs, might they argue about that effecting my warranty or anything?
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Buzzing Noise After Replacing Brake Fluid
Last Thursday Nov 22nd, I took my 2010 Corolla for a regular oil change service by an Toyota agent. The service representative recommended to have the brake fluid replace since it had already 39000 km since new. I agreed.
The same evening, I start hearing a strange high pitch noise from the front while braking light at low speed. It does not occur all the time. I did a search in this forum about the brake noise.
That strange high pitch noise could come from the ABS actuator when it activates or modulates at that light braking.
I did a visual check on the bleeding nipples of the brakes today. It seems that the two nipples for rear brake were untouched and this would mean they did not bleed the rear brakes and air could be trapped in the rear brake lines.
Will take the car back the Toyota service. As search from our forum, the cause for the abnormal modulating of the ABS actuator could be :
(a) a bad speed sensor or
(b) air trapped in the brake line.
Since it starts at the same day of replacing the brake fluid, the most likely cause is air trapped in the brake line.
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Vibration / Buzzing Noise From Passenger Front Door
So my passenger front door is vibrating inside somewhere ... tho' it could be the door panel itself possibly !?
I've removed the door panel hoping to find something loose inside that is causing this buzzing. All the door panel's locating pins are intact and secure the panel as they should. In other words... The door panel secures as it should and nothing looks broken at it's attachment points.
The noise does not occur on a smooth road surface...and only occurs on rougher road. So I realize the vibration is being transmitted by road vibrations.
I can hear/feel a lite jolt from the tire's contact with the road's surface irregularities and if the road surface remains consistently rough ... that jolt turns into a buzzing drone type noise. Well ... at least until I hit a smooth road surface again. Then the buzzing subsides. No, it is not an electrical buzz/noise.
Sounds more like plastic vibrating against the door's inner surface... But I don't see a scuff mark or anything giving me a clue as to what it could be !?
I've thought of removing the door panel...then take a test drive without it installed. Just to be sure it is not the the window glass support/channels... door lock/lever mech. rod or loose wiring. But haven't done that as of yet. With the door panel removed... I don't see anything that looks loose or could be causing this rattle/buzzing noise ?
It's difficult to say exactly where this noise is transmitted from... but if I were to guess... I have to think it's possibly near center... around the arm rest area. I see behind that is only some wires coming from the window control unit. But I don't see how those could be culprit of this buzzing noise ?
My '10 is still under the 36K warranty...

I just finished a 2 hour road trip(about 80 miles per an hour) on my 2013 Corolla S. I have realized what it is about the steering that I am having an issue with. Off the highway, the steering is great and I love the steering feel. But on the highway it tightens up and is real firm. I would like it to be more loose and not as firm on the highway. With it super tight on highspeeds, the usual correcting it with a minor left and right requires signifcant more push/pressure from the arm and hand. Also, need it feels more sensitive to degrees. I find myself shifting around trying to find a relaxing spot to steer and apply that much pressure to steering without my arm/hand getting tired.
Is there anything that can be adjusted to make the steering not tighten up at highspeeds and also be so sensitive? Will it lesson over time? I am using the 17" alloy wheels with Goodyear tires.
Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Front Wheel Hum At High Speed
I have a 2010 Corolla with 32K miles and I hear this humming or low groaning rotational noise that seems to get louder with faster speeds over 40 mph. If I turn to the right above 40MPH around a curve in the road, I hear it a lot louder and it oscillates in and out. What it is? I had it checked at the Toyota dealer and they said there was no issue with the wheel bearing but since the noise is still there today, I think I have to take it back. Is this something I could troubleshoot with the car parked?
