Elantra XD (2001-06) :: 2002 - Speedo Needle Jumping While Driving
I have been reading alot about the speedo needle that jumps on the 2002 elantra gls while driving. My speedo is doing the same thing and I have been told it could be the VSS , the auto trans sensor, the vss sending unit. speedo gauge etc. Which sensor to start with or how to test ? I assume they are on the tranny cover which I have not looked at yet.
View 5 RepliesFord 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Speedo Quit Working - Needle Dropped To Zero And Stayed There For At Least 5 Miles
So i had been up in the woods for better half of the day. I had been in 4wd a few times, didn't thrash on anything and while driving home about 30mins into the return trip on the pavement i noticed my speedo only showing 10mph. I know i was easily going 50mph. I changed my SGII gauge to show MPH and sure enough i was going way faster. Eventually the needled dropped to zero and stayed that way for at least 5 miles. Then I came to a stop to and made a right turn giving it a bit of throttle and the speedo began to work correctly and did so for the remaining 5 miles. the Odom also during that time wasn't adding mileage. could this be from the rear sensor ontop of the rear diff?
View 6 RepliesCelica :: 1990 - Speedo Is Not Working After Clutch Replacement
I just replaced my clutch and now my speedo is not working ? It did work for about a day after the job, but now it just reads 0 all the time... would low fluid cause that ?? I put two quarts in after putting the trans back ....
View 4 RepliesDodge - Ram1500 :: 1996 - Randomly Dis-engaging From Gear While Driving
My Ram truck has started randomly dis-engaging from gear while driving. I've never noticed it when the trans. is cold. It doesn't slip; when it works its fine. When it drops out of gear, its instant and acts like its in neutral. It will re-engage, after a number of seconds goes by and I feather the throttle a bit. It started when I was at highway speed, but now will do it in about any gear. Is this a common problem, and could it be electrical? I've replaced the filter, checked the fluid (looks fine), and pulled a cooler line and it has plenty of pressure. The truck also has an enormous trans. cooler added to it, and it has 155,000 miles. 1996 Ram 1500 4x4, 360 auto transmission...

View 4 RepliesPassat (B5) :: Temperature Gauge Needle Will Randomly Drop On Dash Cluster
Last fall I had my radiator flushed and at the same time my coolant overfill canister with built in temperature guage sensor was replaced with a new unit. (The service station replaced the resevoir canister with a new unit in the engine compartment, because they felt the sensor is prone to failing after 7 years.)
Ever since, my temperature gauge needle on the dash will randomly drop (even when the car is up to FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURES) showing the engine being cooler than it out to be. In other words the needle drops signifying to a much lower water temperature. After a period of time the needle will recover back to the normal full operating temperature mark on the dash gauge.
What could cause this? Inside my radiator do I have a "diafram" temperature valve that could be failing /"sticking?" In other words could a temperature valve in the radiator be sticking at odd or random times??? I also notice that my heater does not put out the usual full furnace heat that a Passat is know for. The temperature is about 1/3 cooler now that we are into winter temperatures.
Is my heater core clogged?
Could the new coolant sensor in the new coolant overfill chamber not be working well? This whole situation began AFTER my radiator was flushed, and AFTER I had the coolant reservoir canister and sensor replaced.
Volvo :: 1996 850 Turbo Sedan - Fuel Gauge Needle Not Going Up All The Way
Have 1996 850 Turbo sedan. When tank is full the gas gauge needle will only go up 2/3 of the way, when nearing empty, needle is below red line. Gas light does work. Can I just remove instrum. Cluster and manually turn needle to top (after a fill up)? If not can I just replace the gauge/motor behind panel or do I have to replace instrument cluster?

My Prius has a forward facing camera for LKA and a backup camera. Any hack to record the cameras' output to a USB stick while driving? Something that would record and retain the last 24hrs of video would be nice. Just to serve as evidence if an accident occurs and the cause is disputed.
View 1 RepliesFord - Ranger :: 1995 - Clutch Will Start To Stick After 20 - 30 Minutes Of Driving
So I have had an issue with my Ranger. When the car is cold it's fine. After a while...maybe 20-30 minutes of driving, the clutch will start to stick. No better way to describe it. I will take my foot off and it will stick on its way back. It starts subtle but the this will gradually get worse and eventually the clutch will seize up and I can't press it anymore and the car stalls and I'm stuck. The car cools off and everything will be fine no problem.....but the problem keeps resurfacing.

I recently purchased a 1996 Celica. The car looks amazing and drives well. On top of it's reliability, the vehicle is an absolute blast to drive!!!!! However, it seems to be burning oil. I was told to switch from 5w-30 oil to 10w. A thicker weight would work.

I have a 94 celica gt and at random times the power is much greater than normal. it seams to happen most when the engine is not fully warmed up or if I'm driving all day and it starts to cool down for the day. normally my 0 to 60 time is around 8 to 10 seconds and when this happens the time drops to around 6 seconds. I also have a 93 Toyota pick up that does the same thing and another 94 celica that doesn't do it.

I have a 2013 RX350 AWD, purchased new about 8 months old. Today for the first time, the navigation/audio system joy stick stopped working while I was driving. The display froze and then had just lines of pixels and very small font. Moving the joy stick had no effect. There was also no map displayed. The display was basically "messed up".
Once I got home, I turned of the car and then restarted. The display and joy stick was fine. I never saw this in all 8 months I've had the car. I am just about to schedule my 10,000 service.
Celica :: 1996 Toyota GT - Cannot Unlock The Doors With The Fob

I was told to disconnect the positive connection on the battery to stop the alarm going off through the night. the next day i replaced the battery in the fob, but every time i reconnect the positive the alarm goes off!
View 4 RepliesCelica :: 1996 GT Won't Start - No Spark On Any Cylinder
This has the 2.2 engine with the ignition coil mounted on the firewall, not inside the distributor.
Original not start condition seemed to be fuel related because it tried to sputter on time after it died in the middle of the intersection.
Changed fuel filter, primed and no start.
Checked for spark at the plug wire using a solid wire and touching a ground - no spark on any cylinder.
Tested for voltage at the center distributor cap - have 12 volts - replaced distributor - no spark
Replace ignition coil and ignitor - no spark
The wires all test with the right ohms so I'm not sure what is left to replace.
Celica :: 1996 Started Hesitating And Popping
I have a well maintained '96 Celica 2.2 and for the first time in years it started acting up on the way home last night.
I got on the highway and was cruising at 65 and it started hesitating and popping and finally forced me to the side of the road. I was then able to start off again and reached about 60 all the way home but it was hesitating and not a smooth ride at all.
When I got to a red light at the off ramp, it died. I started it and it drove rough on local streets until I got home.
This morning I started it and it fired right up but then died immediately. Did that twice. Just tried again and it won't even start but just pops and makes noises like it's out of gas, even though 1/2 full.
Check Engine Light is on. I tried jumping E1 and TE1 but nothing happened.
Passat (B6) :: Fuel Gauge Failure - Needle At Zero While Driving
Last night while driving I saw the needle at zero and was surprised because I refilled a few days earlier, there was also no warning light to refuel the car. When reached home turned the car off and then on and the needle moved in position.
It happened again this evening and restart cured it ... only for the gauge to fail again while driving. The fuel-to-empty indicator was not showing any distance.
Celica :: 1996 - Where Are The Drain Holes On Quarter Panels
I bought the car a month ago and went to pick it up today and there was 3 inches of water in the left front and rear footwells. I drained the water from there but can still hear it sloshing around in the quarters. Probably the drain holes are clogged. Where are they and how do I get to them? Do the rocker moldings have to be removed?
View 2 RepliesCelica :: 1996 - Service Reminder Indicators Not Working
I have a 1996 Celica GT and I am having problems with the service reminder indicators within the instrument cluster panel. I recently had the car inspected in Pennsylvania and I was told that some of the service indicators were not working so they failed the cars inspection. Some of these indicators should illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the ACC or ON position(s). Currently, the only indicators that light up when the key is turned to the ACC or ON position are the SRS Airbag Warning light that stays lit for about six seconds, the BRAKE indicator, the low oil pressure warning light and the bing bing bing sound that my seatbelt is not fastened with no indicator light showing up in the instrument cluster. The CHECK ENGINE and the ABS lights do not light up either.
I removed the instrument cluster and found the CHECK ENGINE bulb was blown so I replaced the bulb and reinstalled the instrument cluster. Per the manual, I checked the 7.5 amp fuse labeled 'instrument panel lights' in position #22 per the diagram and found the fuse to be in good working order. I also checked the 10 amp fuse labeled 'gauges and meters' in position #32 per the diagram and found the fuse to be in good working order. No change to the status of the lights as described above. My daughter did assure me that these lights worked at some point over the past year (she was away at college).
