Expedition :: Won't Start When Roads Are Wet / Snow Melting
It seems when the roads are wet, snow melting, when I turn off engine and get back in, it won't start....usually have to wait at least a half hour before it will start....what would be getting wet?
View 2 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Loss Of Power And Overheat When Driving Hilly Area?
Been a while... Problem today while towing... I was in some hilly areas but nothing too .. I was pulling an unloaded trailer and experienced a significant loss of power and overheating. Engine started getting hot (almost to red) and then the transmission came up in temp. Made it to a rest area and all cooled down within 2 to 5 mins... but the strange thing about the power uphill is that it is happening at slow speeds as well... boost seems normal. Recently did the injector cups, so the thermostat is new (motorcraft), coolant is new, and put new o-rings on injectors.
View 14 RepliesLexus RX 2010-15 :: Back Wheels Didn't Spin In Snow Mode
I know the RX350 isn't a real SUV designed to go off-road, but after the recent blizzard on the East Coast I am really disappointed by the AWD in this car. My driveway is plowed by a truck so it is very clean, but the city plow leaves maybe a small 5 inch high pile that about 1 feet across after it goes by. My RX350 couldn't through that the front wheels just kept spinning. I tried snow mode and even push the 4 Lock which I think does nothing. The back wheel didn't even spin once it seemed like I was driving a FWD car.
Our older RX330 a 2004 model got stuck also, but when we jabbed the gas after a few seconds the car made this weird screeching sound and you could see the back wheels spin as it climbed the driveway no problem albeit slowly. Its a bit disappointing to see an older RX has better AWD then the newer models. I mean the back wheels didn't even spin on my 2010 the front wheels just spun. I tried turn traction control off, 4 lock, and snow mode no luck. Also when going up the 2010 kept sliding sideways on my 04 the steering felt washy, but at least it was sliding off the driveway.
I also had A6 before this and it has never gotten stuck and its a lower car so its not like a drive my car through snow bank. We ended driving the older RX everywhere this weekend as the 2010 is not very assuring when it snows.
Prius (2010-12) :: Resetting TPMS Light After Installing Snow Tires On OEM Wheels
I tried to reset my TPMS light using the procedure in the owner's manual after installing my snow tires on the OEM wheels. Now it looks like there is no effects as the lights will just keep blinking even if i am holding the button down. Does this mean the tire shop broke one of my sensor during the install?

View 7 RepliesToyota - Camry :: 2003 - Pedal Will Travel Excessive Distance Before Any Braking Action
I own a 2003 Toyota Camry SE four cylinder sedan with only 46,000 miles. The car has four wheel disc brakes and an anti-skid braking system. About a year ago, I started to notice that there was excessive travel in the brake pedal. That is, the pedal will travel an excessive distance before there is any braking action. I have tried to correct the problem by pumping the brakes as I back out of my driveway to engage the self-adjusting mechanism; doesn't work. I have also gotten in the habit now of pumping the brake pedal; that works a little, but it's not a solution. Being an old chap who always maintained my car myself, and diagnosed and repaired most problems, I concluded that the problem was the master cylinder because when stopped at a light, the brake pedal would continue to go down. Incidentally, there has been no loss of brake fluid since I bought the car new in 2003. Recently, I had the master cylinder replaced and learned that I'm not as car-smart as I thought. There is no improvement in the pedal travel problem.
View 3 RepliesCamry :: 1994 - Rear Drifts Around While Driving On Snow
The car was in an accident last spring where it went off the road and side swiped one of those cable barriers between the sides of a highway. It actually spun around backwards, hit the barrier on the rear passenger side corner smashing the tail light on that side. Then slid the whole passenger side into it roughing up that side and knocking off the side mirror.
Amazingly both passenger side doors work, the trunk works and it was able to drive away. I drove it around gingerly for a bit and it seemed to be fine. I took a big 4 hour trip up north in it and it had zero problems (other than looking like hell).
I had new tires put on before the accident and are nearly at factory new tread. I can't see any noticeable uneven wear on them. This winter however, every time there is fresh snow on the roads it feels like the back is shifting back and forth like its out of control. Its not vibration like unbalanced tires or ice on the rims. It feels like the rear is swinging back and forth about a foot about every 3-4 seconds. At first I thought maybe a wheel was loose so I jacked up the car at each wheel and wiggled them, they are solid. There is no play in the steering, so i don't think its rack and pinion. I've gone around corners purposefully quick on snow to see if its a grip thing, and it doesn't slide.
The only conclusion I can come to is that the frame is tweaked or my suspension is messed up. On dry, or even wet roads everything seems fine. I do notice a bit of the "drift" when I hit a decent bump or pothole, although then it feels more like a slight "shift" at the rear.
Camry 2012+ :: 2014.5 - Snow Tires Without TPMS Sensors
I just purchased a 2014.5 Camry and winter is around the corner. I was going to buy a set of oem 17in SE rims and put snow tires on with out the tpms sensors. The question I have to ask is once the light comes on can you disable the traction control. Reason I ask is because on my 2011 accord it forces the traction control on and is sucks. Snow tires without the sensors.

2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 3.5L V6. I am experiencing an issue of losing power as I travel up an incline and it doesn't matter how much I depress the gas pedal. The codes that I am receiving are P0101, P0174, and P0171. After reviewing the codes and doing some research I'm thinking it is either the mass air flow sensor or the fuel pump, which can tend to fail in vehicles 10 yrs or older depending on vehicle mate Nance (i.e. constantly running the tank down to almost empty).
View 6 RepliesPrius C :: Driving Over 65mph Over Hilly Terrain - MG1 And MG2 Temps Too High?
My C4 currently has around 1500 miles on it and during a drive over the weekend of sustained driving over 65mph over hilly terrain I noticed my MG2 temps reaching 200F. Several times it exceeded 200F.
I'm using an iPhone app called Engine Link to pull the temp info. Noticed with a ScanGauge similar high MG2 temps during sustained speeds over 65mph?
From reading this board, my understanding is that ideally the temps should be ICE coolant > MG1 > MG2. But during sustained freeway driving mine actually is more like MG2 > MG1 > ICE.
Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel :: Oil Blowing Underneath The Truck And Covering Travel Trailer
On our way home from North Carolina, we stopped for lunch. When walking back to the truck, I noticed a huge oil puddle underneath the truck. It took about a quart to bring it to the middle line on the stick. Kept driving it home with oil blowing underneath the truck and covering the travel trailer (very unhappy wife!!). Where to look? It looks like it's coming from the valley and pouring down the back. I just replaced the oil cooler when I did the egr delete. I used about 1.25 gallons on the way home.
View 8 RepliesFord 7.3L Power Stroke (1999-2003) :: Brake Pedal Pulses In The First 1/2 Inch Of Travel
New to me 2002 F-250 PSD, done brakes all the way around for piece of mind.
Job went very well, replaced one caliper and its bracket, serviced all pins and replaced one set of pins as well, (different corner). Bled brakes all day via gravity, watching reservoir and filling as needed as to flush in new fluid. Truck is in great shape. Mileage 153,000 no rust, turned all rotors just to re-surface.
Now here is what's happened, my pedal is good but it pulses in the first 1/2 inch of travel and once passed that no pulse, got under and watched the pedal rod do this as I very easily touched it in that first 1/2 inch of travel, you don't even begin to get much brake started here if any! Truck running; yes-Truck not running no pulse action occurs.
I'll add this: fluid removed had a green tint to it but had no moisture or bad odor. Different fluid??? I didn't know. Used Dot 3 Off the shelf O'Reilly's.
Hydro-booster didn't like fluid? Air? Master cylinder? No leaks before or after this procedure.
Ford - Explorer :: 2003 - Intermittent Power Loss - Sudden Bog Down And Inability To Travel Faster Than 20 - 25 MPH
2003 Explorer Sport, 4.0 L, 84K miles. Car just fell out of extended warranty and has been serviced exclusively by the dealer.
While driving, I experienced a sudden bog down and inability to travel faster than 20 - 25 MPH. The more pedal you give, the less power. In neutral, free revs will not go above 3000 RPM at full pedal and will rise and fall between 2000 - 3000 RPM. The next day all is normal again. This happened twice now and I am not sure why. No CEL, no stored codes.
Plenty of pressure (felt by hand only) out the tail pipe except when fluctuating during free revs. There doesn't appear to be any vacuum leaks. What I can check to correct this? Could it be bad fuel or water in fuel?
Camry :: 2011 - Radio Gets Irritated With Bumpy Roads
A couple weeks ago I was in a hit and run, someone in a parking space decided to not look behind them before backing up into my passenger side front door & fender. The problem didn't happen till I got home & only when I drove it the next day it started happening. Every time it hits a bump the speakers start crackling and also make loud sounds that are like pops. Also the radio work's only sometimes unless I hit the top of the dash above the deck. Also only some of the speakers work together when they do, but they transition with the bump hitting or my fist pounding the dash from pent up anger from my radio not working.
View 3 RepliesCamry :: 2011 SE - Clunking In The Rear Of Car While Driving On Bumpy Roads
Just recently I've noticed clunking in the rear of the car while driving on bumpy roads, on semi-smooth roads the clunking barely happens. I jacked up the rear of the car today to check for broken brackets/bolts/ect. and found nothing. Re-greased the sway bar bushings and tightened down the endlinks a tad (part where it attaches to the sway bar, the top ones look tight but didn't check. ). Cant seem to find anything wrong. The car is 40k miles, had tein solara springs since 3k miles, got the 23mm ur racing sway bar put in at around 15-20k miles, and then bc coilovers around 35k miles. My best guess is that the rear endlinks are done and need replacing.

I picked up a 2014.5 SE V6 a month ago and the car has been great overall. But the suspension is stiff especially over rough roads as many of you already know.

BTW, the tires are new Yokohama Avid Envigors.

I understand that 15 inch rims was an option selected on the original purchase. Without this option, the car would have had 14 inch rims.
