Camry 2012+ :: 2013 SE With Faint Droning / Humming Sound - Suspension Noise?
I love the car, but had a few small gripes, including ride firmness and road noise. Well, the ride firmness has definitely calmed down a great deal over the first 3500 miles to now I find it has a perfect balance of handling vs. comfort. It's firm, but the bumps are not as jarring as those first 500 miles or so. I'm very happy with it.
The 2nd issue I hd/have, is road noise... or rather... I think... suspension noise. It's a faint droning/humming sound that I think comes mostly from the rear. You can start hearing it at 20-30mph on all but the smoothest of roads. The noise seems to be *in addition* to the very, very minimal tire noise I hear from the very nice stock Michelins. The harsher the road, the louder the noise of course.
My guess (and it's only a guess?) is that the metal bushing ('pillow ball') in the rear along with the other firmer suspension parts are the primary cause of this noise.
So I have tried a couple of things to try and counteract this noise:
1) Put D'amplifier Pro in the trunk - Got down the bare metal and put the stuff all of the place back there... Above the wheel wells also.
This did not stop the noise I hear.
2) I then put some sound deadening foam mats above both rear wheel wells.
This did not work.
The strange thing is that this noise is pretty faint, but unmistakable... however if I move my head forward (say, right in line with the steering wheel) 2 feet.... I barely hear it. But when I move back to the normal driving position, there it is.
Accent RB (2012+) :: Wind Noise From Sunroof While Traveling At 80 Kmh
I have a 2013 Accent GLS hatch. There were no GLS hatches within 1700 kms available for a test drive when I was shopping, so I never got to test the sunroof before purchasing. I have had the car 10 weeks, and am not impressed with the wind noise from the sunroof while traveling at 80 kmh. I know, going that fast there will be some noise, but my XG350 probably makes 20% of the amount of noise from the Accent. I find it rather annoying, and ususally just close the sunroof unless I'm in the city...
My question is, if we install one of these 2011+ Accent Sunroof Wind Deflector ? did it improve or worsen the wind noise? Did it affect the 'partially open' or 'fully open' positions or both?
On a side note, thinking about these 2012+ Accent 5 Door Smoke Tinted Window Visors as well, so I can crack the side window to eliminate the "helicopter effect" when the sunroof is fully opened.
Camry :: Gen 6 - Excessive Wind Noise In Cabin When Traveling Freeway Speeds
Have excessive cabin wind noise in your Gen 6 when travelling Freeway speeds. I know there would be some noise but when passengers mention it and we talk louder than normal then i think its an issue. It is kinda loud now...
View 2 RepliesLexus RX 2010-15 :: Loud Droning Noise From AC Fan?
We bought our 2010 RX last December--dead of winter--and never noticed this until this week, when the temps are approaching summer, like upper 80s.
The AC (and heater) fan makes a loud droning noise (low frequency, but quite loud) when the "auto" setting turns the fan to one of the two highest settings to cool the car down. Never noticed this until now because the fan never ran at the higher settings in the winter (parked in a heated garage). It makes no difference which vent setting is used, the loud drone from the fan is the same as long as it is running at the higher speeds.
Also, I'm NOT talking about the fans in the seats. This is the big fan behind the dash. Manually decreasing the fan speed reduces the drone, which becomes almost inaudible at lower fan speeds.
Ford - Explorer :: 1996 - Droning Noise When Car Is Hot
My 1996 Ford Explorer makes this dreadful droning noise - but only when the outside temperature is above 78 degrees and the engine is warm. This is summer 3 and it seems to get louder and louder each year. The doing is loud. I am embarrassed in parking lots. It does not matter if a/c is on, or the fan. The noise goes away with throttle. Which may mean the engine vacuum is involved in the noise.

On two separate occasions I have been getting a droning like noise from the right side of the engine and when moving the steering wheel it still makes that same sound but changes slightly and even after when the steering was moved back and forth it still wouldn't go away so I let the vehicle run for a short while it slowly and eventually went away.. what would that sound be from?
View 2 RepliesSubaru - Forester :: Slight Droning Noise / Sensation When Driving Between 40 - 50 Mph
I drive a 2007 Subaru Forester X (auto) with 87,000 miles. When driving between 40-50 mph, I can hear and slightly feel a droning noise/sensation. This occurs while accelerating, braking or coasting through that speed range only. I drive on newer tires, but do not experience any shake or steering vibration. Unfortunately, I can't recall if the droning occurred before the new tires were installed. The droning noise is reminiscent of deeper exhaust note.

My car has been making a loud droning noise that sounds like I am driving a jeep with some mud tires on it, when I turn to the left it gets smoother and when I turn to the right it gets louder.
I assume it is the wheel bearings. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment with no garage and no tools so it is a pain to check. My question is, what do I need if it is in fact the rear wheel bearings? The whole assembly is easiest I assume?
Buick - LeSabre :: Droning Noise From Left Front Related To Motion Of Car
My 2002 Buick LeSabre developed a droning/humming noise from the left front related to the motion of the car and not the engine. Also, the check tire pressure warning comes on but tire pressures are ok. My husband replaced the left wheel bearings and the noise was still there. Ditto, the CV axle. Yesterday I noticed the right front tire has a bald spot around the outer edge.

I just bought my 2002 camry 9 months ago and have had it into at least 4 different shops and the last two visits were a toyota dealership. Problem, traveling at 30'- 40'mph, car has slight hesitation and slight surge feel. It feels as if passenger is messing with a driver's ed brake? Problem is sporadically intermittent. Dealership did update ECM, but not sure what they did. What to do next so my car will roll smoothly and I can love my camry?

About 5K miles after putting on 18x8.5 rims with 235-40 tires noted bad reverberating droning tire noise and noticed stairstep pattern of excessive wear on inside tread blocks, equal on all 4 wheels. Is this just from going from OEM ET47 to ET35? Is camber adjustment indicated and is camber adjustable also on the rear wheels? (Of course, noise and reverberation gone when OEM wheels put back on)
View 5 RepliesToyota - Camry :: Shaking When Traveling At Highway Speed While Under Power
1989 Camry, 2.0L A/T- 97K mi.- This car has developed a violent shaking condition when traveling at highway speed. It only occurs after the car has been driven for at least 1/2 hour. It does not appear to be related to an individual wheel or axle, and happens only when the accelerator pedal is depressed and the car is in gear and moving at 50+ MPH. Steering is not affected, nor does turning the steering wheel increase or decrease the shaking. The shaking stops when the accelerator is released. The engine runs smoothly, with no misfire or vibration.

I have a ford f150 that is making a loud banging noise from the rear end. It only makes this noise when you are traveling down the road and let your foot off of the accelerator. A mechanic told me it is the catalytic converter but I am questioning this for he also told me it needed a tune up. A tune up was just recently done therefore I am just trying to find better answers to this problem.
View 1 RepliesSanta FE SM (2001-06) :: Whining Noise When Vehicle Is Traveling
What is probably a common Santa Fe issue. I have a 2005 V6 2.7L model which has traveled 81,000 miles (131,000km). The power steering is and has been working fine, but over recent week has developed 2 symptoms :
a) The reservoir overflows (see pic)
b) There is a whining noise when the vehicle is traveling and when turning the sounds modifies to more of pressure-release type sound. When the vehicle is stationary, the noise is very evident when turning the steering wheel (See video here : Power steering noise - YouTube )
Other things to report are that the reservoir is full but has not needed a top-up for months. The power steering pump appears to be leak free. I have a slow drip from the rack & opinion area (detected at Hyundai first service - about a few drips per day and they decided it didn't warrant fixing)
I have read on this forum the issue may be related to the reservoir filter becoming blocked and this ties in with the fact the rack and pinion has a known drip leak, but I never need to top-up the reservoir.
Honda - Cr-v :: 2004 - Groaning Noise When Braking While Traveling At Very Low Speeds
2004 Honda CRV just over 100k miles.
Brakes are now about 8 months old (less than 1k miles/month). Tires are also about that old.
Other new stuff (done by dealer about 4 months ago) includes: ball joints, wheel bearings, control arm.
I had to take it to a mechanic (not a Honda-only mechanic) to get a safety inspection in order to register it in the new place I'm living and he said "Everything looks new!" I had asked him to look specially at the brakes due to the noise described below. He said they seemed fine.
The issue I've been having is as follows: when the car is hot, i.e. after driving 100+ miles , and when traveling at very low speeds, the brakes make a sort of groaning sound. I recently made a 400-mile 1-day trip; no noise when exiting, pulling up to the gas pump, etc. But as soon as I got into the city where I was going, and did a lot of stopping and starting, I would get a noticeable groan coming to lights, stop signs, etc. No noticeable change in brake function. When I just get in the car to make a quick trip after it's been sitting for a day, or a few hours, I do not get this noise.
So, honestly, I'm not worried about safety, just very puzzled. The noise is definitely a recent occurrence--starting about 5 months ago. I would love to have it fixed, but would prefer to be able to direct a mechanic's attention to something specific rather than giving carte blanche to take apart the front end again!
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2010 F250 Whistling Noise While Traveling About 70 Down The Freeway
I have a 2010 F250 extend cab 4x4. While traveling about 70 down the freeway I get a whistling noise. It is usually worse when the wind is blowing hard or behind a semi. Wind makes the noise louder so I assume the noise is coming from the air hitting something. Slow down to 50 and noise goes away. Do not think it is mechanical because when a gust hits the truck it is worse. Checked all the windows, windshield and rubber parts. Where I should look.
View 9 RepliesCamry 2012+ :: SE Never Ending Roof Noise?
Took in 4 months ago for the body flex popping. Repaired per the TSB with roof shims. While doing so the dealership creased my roof liner, got grease on my roof shade, scratched the overhead console , and left a scratch on the Nav trim bezel. Needless to say I flipped out! All were replaced at the expense to the dealer. Wife saw the bill which was $2k-billed under warranty repair as apposed to sloppy workmanship in the service department.
Apparently tried to fold the roof liner and left a small crease according to them....actually it was 2ft long on the drivers side. Before they put the new liner in I suggested just pull the seats and center console so they didn't crease the new liner, amazingly it worked. They had my car for a total of 8 days on two separate occasions. I guess I can be a certified tech now.
A month after the popping was gone but a rattle developed on the same side(driver's side). After inspecting I noticed that the roof was off kilter and misaligned slightly. Wife said to let it go till the next oil change which is tomorrow at a different dealership. Apparently there is yet another fix with felt tape or something. Car is only 10 months old and I am about to loose my mind with all the rattles and noises on the cheap plastic interior. On a side note, I just got myself a new 2013 Accord EX-l. It may not be as sporty as my wife's Camry but boy is the fit and finish on the interior done right. Yes there is still plastic but its not the cheap feeling, light weight brushed steel crap that is in my Camry.
Camry 2012+ :: Clicking Noise When Going Over Bumps
Just recently I've noticed a clicking noise when going over bumps. Sometimes even the slightest bump. I've narrowed it down and I'm almost positively sure that it's coming from the hard plastic piece on top of the clock in the center of the dashboard. I'm wondering if I am hearing this more often because it has been extremely cold out and it's a hard plastic?
