Camry 2012+ :: Still Smell After Installing New Cabin Air Filter
I have a 2013 Camry XLE V6, and it now has almost 17,400 miles on it. About a month ago, I replaced the Cabin Air Filter (was definitely dirty) and the Engine Air Filter (was somewhat dirty). I made triply sure that I installed the Cabin Air Filter the correct way (the Air Filter is easier, as there is only one way to put it on).
In any event, after the car sits a while, and I start it up, whether I let air circulate from the outside or not, when I press the fan button for the A/C, initially a "musky" smell is present, but it does go away fairly quickly. (I have not tried this in "heat" (non A/C) mode yet). Why this happens? Seems somewhat strange (by the way, I used the correct STP filters that I previously purchased at AutoZone).

Every day for the last four years the timer on the air filter drives me crazy. It insists on switching from filter to outside air after three minutes, which sucks back in all the Diesel fumes and dust I just finished filtering. I would very much like to disable the timer. I'm not afraid of cutting wires.

View 9 RepliesCamry :: 2002 - How To Do Cabin Air Filter Orientation
2002 Camry LE 2.4
To replace the cabin air filter, there is a tray that you pull out. The tray has an arrow pointing up. I've read someone's comment on the forum that the up arrow on the filter should be oriented the same way as the up arrow on the tray. I'm wondering if the up arrow on the tray is only meant specifically for the orientation of the tray, to make sure you slide it incorrectly and not for the filter, per se.
Usually, for air filters (home, car, industrial, whatever) the arrow almost always indicates the direction of air flow. I have seen on some car air filters that the direction of the arrow just simply meant to put the filter in with the arrow pointing up, while other manufacturers mean the arrow to be pointing in the direction of air flow.
I just got this 2002 for my mom, and I'm doing the maintenance on it before I bring it to her. The very new aftermarket cabin air filter in there has the arrow pointing up, in line with the arrow on the tray. I'm much more familiar with the Gen 9 Corolla, and on that car the direction of air flow is going down. For some brands, you must put the filter with the arrow pointing down and others up, depending on what they meant (air flow direction, or orientation of filter). I assume the air flow is going down for this car. So, for this generic filter that is in there, should I switch the orientation? It doesn't have a name brand on it, but it's practically brand new, so I don't want to spend the money on a Denso or other OEM/OES filter.
Prius Plug-in 2012-15 :: Cabin Air Filter Replaced - Housing Clip Broken Off
Not sure if there is a post for this, but I could not find one.
I recently replaced my cabin air filter in my '12 PiP. When I went to put the little door back on, the clip that holds the door into place on the left (not the "click" side), broke right off of the housing.
I have the piece, but not sure I can glue this back on with any success.
Do I have to take the whole dash apart to get the housing out to replace? It really is the smallest little plastic piece.
Lexus LS 2007+ :: 2012 - Procedure To Open Hatch To Replace Cabin Air Filter?
I used to replace my LS430 cabin air filter myself. Now I have a 2012 LS460, and they have made the hatch door in the glove box motorized. I know to open the hatch, it has something to do with depressing the Fan button on the dash. But I don't know exactly what to press, if car should be running, or ignition simply On but not running, etc. What is the exact procedure that opens the little hatch in the glove box so I can replace the filter ? (And my primary reason for wanting to bring it to dealer is simply that it took me 5 minutes to do it on my LS430, vs MUCH longer to go to my dealer.)

View 3 RepliesCamry :: How Fast Can Air Filters Become Dirty
2008 Camry LE. It has 46,000mi on it now. I just had my 45k service done 2 weeks ago at the Toyota dealership where I purchased my car, and both the engine and cabin air filters were replaced ($$$). Today I had to revisit the dealer to deal with an annoying tire pressure warning popping up constantly, and after their performance of a 19-point inspection they told me my air filters were checked off as dirty (yellow box). They weren't trying to push new ones on me but it struck me as odd. How much dirt can actually get on brand new air filters in 2 weeks/500miles? and What criteria does someone check that off? They just visibly have some small amount of dirt on them and thats it?
