Camry :: Drain And Fill Transmission - Oil Level

Firstly I have a I4 2007 Camry LE with 102,000km.

I just did a drain a fill on the transmission [I didn't check the level before draining, but i should have]. While draining I did measure how much fluid came out and it was roughly under 3 Liters.

I refilled exactly 3 Liters. Checked the level and it was above the HOT mark. I though i filled up too much but after driving the car for 10-15 mins i brought it back on full level ground, ran it through the gears and checked the fluid level, the level dropped down to the COOL reading.

To be certain i left the car on level ground all night, checked in the morning and sure enough the level jumped back to above the HOT mark on the dipstick.

I have checked every day since the change and every-time I check the level when warm it shows around the COOL marking on the dipstick. Does this mean that my oil level is low?

This is the first drain and fill i did on the car, and as I mentioned i replaced the exact amount that came out.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: U341e Transmission Drain Plug Torque?

The transmission drain plug torque on a 2011 Corolla s, u341e transmission.

I have heard 36ft lbs, I just feel like that is a lot and want to confirm. Any horror stories on snapping these plugs? I'm planning to get new crush washers.

Any experience with just using a fluid extractor to do multiple drain and fills from the dipstick? I've heard the tubing can sometimes melt/break off, but was considering this route to not have to deal with snapping a drain plug.

Tried searching, tried checking my hanyes manual and my factory service manual I have in pdf, neither lists a torque, or at least that I can find.

Ford F-150 (2009-2014) :: Transmission Oil Change Now Truck Won't Move

2012 F150 STX 2wd 6spd 100kmi

I just dropped the transmission oil pan and changed the filter. Put a new filter in. 5qt of oil came out, I put 5qt of oil back in. Oil level is right between the A and B hash marks.

I start up the truck and put it in gear and nothing happens. Its like the oil filter dropped and it isnt getting oil. I dont think this is possible because i watched it go in, the oil pan holds it, the seal came out with the old filter and the seal went in with the new one.

Am I missing something here? this oil change went just as well as any other tranny oil change i have done but the thing wont move.

Ford - Explorer :: 2009 - Transmission Fluid Change On No Dipstick Vehicle

2009 Ford Explorer - 6cyl - 4L - auto trans - 35K miles. I'd like to change the automatic transmission fluid, but as some may already know, there is no dipstick on these vehicles. I have one of those hand pumps which will fit on the quart bottles and I'd be able to pump new fluid in (through where the drain torx bolt is). My question is: How do you know when the fluid level is correct when re-filling and then checking ? Also, I'm assuming that this has to be checked while the vehicle is running and in park ?

The VW Owners Manual for my 2009 VW TDI Jetta indicates that the automatic transmission fluid and filter should be changed every 40,000 miles. However my independent mechanic's "after market" maintenance manuals say that the DSG should not be touched for the life of the car. I am perplexed

Camry :: 2009 Hybrid - Disable Remote For Oil Change?

I have a mechanic that I've always gone to for oil changes, repairs, etc. I just bought a 2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid in October 2012, and when I needed the oil changed, my mechanic said the remote needed to be disabled in order to change the oil (something about the car turning on automatically when it hits a certain temperature, I think - not too sure there), but he didn't know how to do this. How to disable the remote/key or if this needs to be done to change the oil/filter? I don't really know much about cars, but I searched the manual to no avail.

Also, probably a dumb question, but I heard somewhere that you don't have to change oil on hybrids as often as non-hybrids (my last car was a Chevy Equinox). Is that true? It seems like my maintenance required light on the hybrid came on after about 3000 or so miles.

Camry :: 2002 - Transmission Started To Slip - Fluid Change?

I bought a 2002 camry last month. It has 180k on it, and the previous owner says he never had the trans fluid changed.

It started to slip, so I parked it and I had it towed to a trans shop. Of course, they immediately say I need a trans rebuild.

My house was close, so I drove it home without any issues.

What are the chances that a fluid change will correct this for a little while atleast?

Toyota - Camry :: 1999 Automatic Transmission - Slow To Change Gears

I have a '99 Toyota Camry automatic transmission with about 184k on it. I bought it used last summer.I noticed that when I speed up, it is sometimes slow to switch gears. I have to ease off the gas before it changes gears. This also happens when I go from reverse to drive. I experience it more noticeably when I haven't been driving the car for long or on a cold morning. I haven't brought it in yet...

Ford - Crownvictoria :: 1992 - How To Do Oil Change Without Damaging Drain Plug

I have a 92 crown vic. And this past weekend I tried to do a oil change but the drain plug was really tight. So I took it to an oil place to see after I messed with it for over two hours. They did get it out half way, but had to put it back in. They suggested that the drain plug or the the pan is stripped, I even tried to use a cheap siphon hose that goes down through the dipstick and it wouldn't go all the way down. So is there another way I can drain my oil without messing up my oil pan and drain plug?

Camry :: 2009 - Mild Transmission Leak

About two days ago I notice a small puddle under neath my car as I visited my parents and saw it as I was walking up to my vehicle. Upon observation and looking at it, it seems to be transmission fluid. It's a very red color, not gritty or dirty.

So I look under and see that the transmission/case is a little moist and has dirty slightly built up on it from the dirt clinging onto the oil.

I checked my fluids last night after a 10 hour shift of work, decent sized puddle (Not huge but enough to leave the concrete slightly moist/red). I checked them cold and it read over the hot/full mark, I drove home an hour away then went for another reading, it still read over the hot/full mark. I'm guessing it's not leaking as bad as I may think, maybe I am just paranoid and not used to leaking fluids.

I once again checked it this morning after the car sat over night, reads over the hot/full mark. I notice the cold mark is way lower on the dipstick? I thought it would be the higher mark since on some vehicles when the car is hot/warm the transmission will read lower then it should? Anyhow, am I doing something wrong or is this the correct way of reading the transmission dip stick accurately? I am worried of running out of fluid before I am able to diagnose the issue. I do have to drive an hour to and from work everyday so I will check before and after the drive till I am able to jack it up to see what the issue is. Any clues on what it may be?

I DID read that the coolant is used to cool the transmission, not too sure if I am red coolant in my car but it doesn't smell like coolant?

Camry :: 2009 - Auto Transmission Not Engaging

2009 Camry SE 2.4L. I have been noting an unfamiliar vibration of sorts in my gas pedal for some time, but did not notice smells, overheats, noises, fluid loss, DTCs or anything. Today on my way to work I started to notice hard shifting. The RPMs would rev up, fall down and shift hard. At time the RPMs would climb to 5k before dropping back down then shifting. Got worse, then finally when I was trying to U turn across the road (was stopped in gear) I lost all gears. I could shift to any gear, engine RPMS would remain stable, but no movement. Pressing on the gas just hiked the revs.

I pushed it off the road, and killed the engine and could get it to engage for short periods then no gears again. Seems like if I let it sit for a bit it will work for a short while, then no gears again. Had it towed home. Trans fluid indicates full, no burnt coloring or smell to it. No indications of leaks. After the tow I was able to drive it up into my driveway.

For clarity, I can move the selector to any gear and that feels normal. The engine does not bog down. I simply am not engaging any gear. Thinking sensor? Maybe heat related?
