Camry :: Car Dies After Cold Start
My 2.4l camry 2002 dies right after start. This usually happens with cold starts. I checked multiple threads with similar problems and I have narrowed down the possible culprits. My working theory now is that the TPS or throttle body may be bad.
1. Is the throttle body fully closed at rest? Mine opens a bit.
2. With ignition at ON (engine not started) my TPS reads 17.6 on my Actron scanner. Is this figure OK?
OTHER THEORIES : The only code I ever got is p1656: OCV circuit malfunction. A technician checked and said it was caused by a poor grounding. That code has not returned since then (a few days back).
However, I'd still place OCV on the list:
1. Bad OCV/circuit/ECM (shudder!)
2. Leak in air throttle after MAF (VSV for EVAP stuck open?)
3. Bad A/F sensor

My 2008 Camry SE 2.4L rattles loudly when I accelerate. It happens all the time & I believe it's the braided portion of the exhaust system. It sounds like tin rattling.

I just heard this noise today. It is right when i start the car in the morning. it is like a rattling noise, and it gets louder whenever i accelerate. I have a 2003 Camry 4 cylinder with ~143K. When I start the engine I can hear a slight rattling noise. When I rev the engine the noise seems to go away (or it is just masked). I noticed the noise after the check engine light came on twice and I had it checked by an exhaust shop. The code was for an O2 sensor, but the exhaust shop said everything looked fine to them. This was about 7K ago. I jacked the car up a few weeks ago to check the exhaust for anything obvious, but couldn't find anything loose to explain the rattle.
I hit the exhaust pipe with my fist and heard a rattle a few times, maybe from the catalytic converter, but I am not certain. Everything runs/operates fine, smooth acceleration, fuel economy is unchanged, engine temperature is unchanged, but the noise persists. I don't know if it is just normal due to age and nothing to really worry about, or if it is the first sign of trouble. I have also noticed that I am using about 1/2 quart of oil between changes, but I'm fairly certain that started before this noise.
Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: Rattling Sound On Start - Sounds Like Rocks In A Can
As the title says I have noticed a strange sound on start up in the last couple weeks that sounds like rocks in a can. Noticed only at start up and then stops but I have noticed it slightly infrequently when driving. Truck runs great, no noticeable problems. I have looked under the hood and suspension to see if something maybe hung up and didn't see anything. Thought this might be the problem since I was following a plumbing truck that had plastic buckets flying out the back and I hit one!

I have an '03 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has twice had issues with hesitating while driving (like it's not getting gas--tank is full), then starts rattling, then dies. I had it towed to the shop 3 weeks ago. "loss of cam or crank sensor misfire codes found loose connection at pcm, connector 4, re-attach connector to lock position, erase codes". Picked it up after work was done. When driving it to work two days ago, the same exact situation presented. Had it towed again to shop. They're saying they ran it all day and cannot get any codes to come up and that 90% of the time it's the cam sensor. He also said 1/3 of the time (math issues) it's the computer. How can you know if it's the cam sensor or the computer?

I have a new battery in my 2008 Toyota Camry XLE. The car wouldn't start today so I replaced the starter. Auto parts store tested original and confirmed it was no good. After replacing the starter it still will not start. The brake will not depress. The instrument panel lights will not come on, but the air, radio, headlights, wipers, etc. will turn on. What else could be wrong. We have been trying to figure it out all day and can't even turn it on to get it to a mechanic.

I bought a used 2008 Toyota Camry per-certified from a local Toyota dealer about 2 years ago. About a year and a half ago I got in the car to go to work one morning and it would not start. You turn the key and all the lights come on but nothing else happened. Took the battery to Auto Zone and they said the battery was OK so I had it towed to the dealership. Dealer called when he got it and said it cranked right up for them and it has not been an issue since.
Two days ago I get in the car to leave work and the same thing happens. You might hear the starter click when you turn the key but nothing else happened. The car was getting power from the battery but that was about it. I tried to jump the car off but still the same thing. I had the car towed to a local Goodyear shop and after looking at it the said it was a problem with the alternator, that needed to be replaced, which also killed a cell in the battery that needed to be replaced also. They said since they are replacing the alternator they might as well replace the belt also.
Camry :: Ignition Doesn't Turn On Toyota Hybrid 2008 - Keyless Start
I recently purchased Toyota Camry Hybrid -2008, pre-purchase inspection done by Toyota dealer. Today, my car refuses to turn ignition on (I have keyless start). After several trials, it turned on. I switched off the car and tired after 5 mins. Again it gave the trouble first time, worked second time. What could cause this issue? It's still under hybrid warranty.

I own a 2004 Camry LE with the 2.4L engine and 117,800 miles. When driving to work the other day, the engine died just as I started to put an increased load on it (while going up an incline). The check engine light came on and I was able to coast to the shoulder where I was almost immediately able to restart the vehicle. I proceeded to work without further incident. When driving the vehicle home, I stopped at a store. When I restarted it, this time the light was extinguished. The next day I drove the vehicle again and as I accelerated from a stoplight the engine died again with the light once again lit. I purchased an OBD-II diagnostic tool, connected it to the car while it was running, and got the following codes:
P0010: Camshaft Position "A" Actuator Circuit Bank 1
P2112: Throttle Actuator Control System - Stuck Closed
After doing some research, I came across a 2005 service bulletin [URL] .... which called for replacement of the throttle body assembly and the throttle body hose if any of several codes, including the P112 code, appeared.
So, is the throttle body assembly (which, unfortunately, includes the sensor) the most likely culprit? If I start the car and depress the accelerator pedal, it seems to rev up normally and respond promptly. It just has this tendency to quit running at the most disconcerting moments (thus my tendency to favor a new OEM assembly as opposed to a used or rebuilt one). Or is the problem likely related to something else, such as the variable valve timing system?
Camry 2012+ :: 2.5 Rattling At Idle While Ac Is On
I have a 2012 Camry se with the 2.5, When I'm sitting at a red light or the car is in park with the ac is on I can hear an really annoying rattling coming from the car. I dont know what it can be and now it is doing it when the ac is off but not as bad. The only thing I have installed on my car is a cold air intake.

I have a 2004 F150 5.4 Triton. When coming to a stop the truck starts a rough idle then dies like it ran out of fuel. The tank is full. It is an intermittent problem but is getting slightly worse. It mostly happens after reaching operating temperature. Also there is the dreaded ticking sound once the problem start. Brought it to the dealership and after they had it for four days they said it stalled once and recommended replacing the motor! They could not answer the question as to why to replace the motor. No codes or warning lights are coming on when it dies.

My 08 escape (3.0) wouldn't go over 45-50mph Sunday on my way home. The next morning I made it about 2 blocks and the battery light came on and it died. I am replacing the battery tomorrow because it tested bad but believe there is also an exhaust problem. Last week it began making a noise I could hear inside the car only when accelerating. Almost sounded like a small,air plane. The car will start and run now but cuts out and sometimes will Rev up when I press accelerator and sometimes won't. The exhaust pipe gets hot really fast and it and the motor both vibrate we the car is started (more than normal) any clue on where to start??

I am getting 14MPG out of my 2007 with a 4.2L 5 speed manual single cab. That seems pretty low to me considering the HWY MPG is rated at 19mpg.
My son and I have also noticed when taking off from a stop it is very easy to kill the engine, it seems to happen more so in Reverse but does it a lot going forward. I have driven many stick shifts and this one is by far the worst as far as it dying on take off, really I have never seen one this bad.
I have also noticed some spark knocking at HWY speeds and it also feels like it has a miss a idle but when you push the gas it runs fine.
Installed Motorcraft Platinum plugs a few months back and checked all the gaps. Also new orielly brand plug wires at the same time.
