Camry :: 1994 Toyota LE V6 3.0 Liter Dies In Drive / Engine Light On

I own a toyota camry le automatic that has the engine light on and dies while driving. I've taken it to a mechanic and he diagnosed the error codes p0500 and 720. we fixed the 720 by replacing the trans. speed shaft sensor and replaced the vehicle speed sensor with one we bought from ebay. The rpm will shoot up randomly whilst the check engine light is on. the speedometer works just fine now. car dies when it slows down or at a stop. the rpm goes far below 1000 and i smell gas then i hear it beginning to struggle just to stay on.

The dash lights dim and return to normal then dim again and repeat then it shuts off and the battery light along with oil light come on. turns on fine but when put in reverse or drive it shuts off. it cant go more than 3 minutes without it messing up. when the engine light isn't on it runs just fine but once it turns on i've got about three minutes to get back somewhere safe. also when it does want to die i have to give it gas for it to stay on. i feel a major lag also and the o/d light flashes along with the pwr light.

Passat (B6) :: Engine Started To Hesitate And Shake A Lot

My wife was driving this morning and she said that the car engine started to hesitate and shake a lot, engine light came on, started to bling. Called road assistance and they did a great work towing the car in less than half hour. Also noticed a rotten egg smell from the exhaust or engine.

Camry :: 2007 Toyota SE Shake When Begin To Accelerate

I have a 2007 Toyota Camry SE V6 with 201,000 miles on it. My problem is that when the vehicle is idling it is smooth as can be, but when I begin to accelerate or even floor the gas pedal, the car begins to violent shake and feels like it is about to fall apart. I just had new front and rear brake pads and rotors put on yesterday. The tires have about 6,000 miles on them and does not need to be aligned.

Camry :: 1995 Toyota Shake And Make Loud Rattling Noise While Driving

Our 1995 Toyota Camry shakes and makes a loud rattling noise while driving, but not every time I drive the car. The rear seat of the vehicle, especially feels the shake. The rear tires have been replaced and aligned, but still the shake/noise persists. Our mechanic has not been able to recreate the noise. It has occurred in the winter and summer with or without the heater and/or air conditioning on or off. Sometimes the shaking is so severe, I am afraid of what will happen, but I will stop at the next light, sit for a minute or two, and when the light turns green, the car goes, no shaking involved - everything is fine. I typically drive in town so speed is only 45 mph or less. The car has only 137,000 miles, and is well-maintained.

Camry :: 2003 - Clicking / Clacking Engine Noise When Started

I have an 03 Camry that has a clicking clacking engine noise when started, is sounds like a lifter or a valve; however after letting it idle for about 20mins, the noise disappears and it runs fine. So far i've done.

1. Flush Engine
2. Change oil and even used a very thick oil 20w 50.

Here is a video clip of what it sounds like with the noise and without the noise towards the end of the video. YouTube

Is it even the engine? Is it a blown head gasket? Is the engine done?

Camry :: Loud Rattle If Car Started And Placed In Drive / Reverse With AC Turned On

Have been chasing a rattling noise for a while on a 2002 Camry 4 cyl AT.

Here's a brief video: [URL] .....

The conditions when the noise appears are as follows:

Start car, turn AC on, place into drive/reverse. Rattle is present initially, then goes away after driving a bit.

The noise seems to be worse after the car has been sitting overnight.

If car is started and placed in drive/reverse without turning on the AC, then the noise is not present.

If the car is started and the AC turned on and the car is in park/neutral, then the noise is not present.

The tensioner pulley seems to be moving quite a bit in the video. Is this normal?

Camry :: 2003 Toyota - Low Idle RPM With Engine Heated Up

I have a 2003 Camry 4 cyclinder with about 85k miles, for the past few months I've noticed that it has not been idling at 800-900 rpm with a hot engine, but instead it was idling around 500-600rpm. Not really knowing what was wrong, I went through the following process of elimination.

1. New Spark plugs - no change
2. Air filter and oil change - no changes
3. Coincidentally found my upper torque strut mount had a crack in the rubber so I replaced the torque strut mount and 2 lower motor mounts - no changes
4. Seafoamed the intake vacuum hose and gas tank - no changes
5. Checked oxygen sensors (the check engine light was not on)
6. FINALLY did some homework online and someone with a similar problem was suggested to clean out the sensor in the throttle body with carb cleaner - Problem solved!

Here is a verbal summary of how I did it:

1. Make sure the engine is cool because it is in an awkward area so you don't wanna get burned
2. Remove the top half the air filter box and disconnect the electrical and other rubber hoses so that the plastic/rubber intake manifold can come out easily
3. Disconnect the intake manifold, it's basically the non-metal tubing
4. In the throttle body assembly (the first metal component you will encounter after the intake manifold), you will see the "hinge door", swing it open and you will see a pencil erased sized hole toward the back end, use a flash light to see.
5. I used the handle from a hair of needle nose pliers to hold the "hinge door" open while I pointed my straw from the carb cleaner at the pencil sized hole where I suspect the sensor is located and give it a few quick spurts of carb cleaner (caution! Make sure your straw is secure before spraying because you don't to lose your straw down the throttle assembly!)
6. Wipe dry with clean cloth and give it a few minutes to evaporate, replace everything and fire up the engine (it might take a few cranks to get the car to fire up). Warm up the engine and take it out for a spin to see if it has resolved your idle RPM problem

Camry :: Exhaust Leak - RPM Drop To 500 And Engine Shake Periodically On First Start

I have a 2003 Camry 4 cylinder with an exaust leak. On first morning start after the rpm drop to 500 the engine will shake periodically until I drive about half a mile then all is fine. I cleaned the trottle body at the area of the flap with throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush, and gave the car a tuneup. The problem went away for about 4 days but is back. What can I do to fix this.

Camry :: 2003 Toyota LE - Loud Noise From Inside Engine Compartment

2003 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder

I am experiencing a loud noise which is getting worse from inside my engine compartment. I took off the heat shield assuming it was coming from the exhaust manifold but it is not. It sounds more like it is coming from the intake manifold. Now I would assume it was the intake manifold issue that has been described in many threads but it is not a vibration or clanging sound. It just sounds like air is escaping from my intake. What baffles me is that the sound is loudest in drive. Then neutral is the next loudest, then reverse there is very little unordinary sound.

I hear it a little bit when I am going like 15-20 MPH in reverse and let off the gas to decelerate. There is a noticeable noise increase just at idle too. I checked and all fluid levels are good. I changed the tranny fluid about a month ago and according to the dipstick it is right on where it should be. The sound is increasing and I am worried about what it may be. It sounds as if it has an exhaust leak but I do not see anything.

Toyota - Camry :: 2003 LE Would Not Start / When Key Turned In Ignition Engine Would Not Engage

My 2003 Toyota Camry LE has been running fine. Recently I parked the car somewhere for about 5 minutes and when I returned the car would not start, i.e. when I turned the key in the ignition the engine would not engage. I called the tow truck. The tow truck driver takes a look and tells me that she can hear the engine trying to kick in. She thinks the battery is fine, the alternator is fine etc. etc. So she pops the hood, takes a long metal rod, places it on the starter and gives it a couple of gentle taps. Then she asks me to start the car. I do and it works. She tells me that the starter was stuck and that what she did freed it up.

The car runs okay now but I am concerned as to whether this could be a sign of things to come. Should I take my car in the get the starter looked at or maybe replaced? The dealer says that a new starter will run me 350 bucks but also said that I don't need to come in unless it happens again. What does the community think? Do I have a problem or was it a one off thing that I can ignore for now? And I don't know if its important or not but the weather here has been starting to get colder lately. Could that be responsible in any way? I have about 81000 miles on this car.

Toyota - Camry :: Squealing When Started With AC On

The 98 camry squeals when started with the ac on. I think it is the ac belt. Does that mean the compressor is bad or the belt isn't tight enough. Also the car idles roughly and at low rpms. 500 rpm namely. Sometimes on rare occasions, the car will die when put into drive. I want to pass smog but i don't know if it is going to! i cleaned the throttle body, no change to the idle, is my throttle maladjusted.

Toyota - Camry :: Brakes Are Binding On Drive

I drive a 1997 Toyota Camry with 210,000 miles on it. Recently, my brakes were grinding. My ex-mechanic father said he would replace them. When he took the wheel off, he found that the calipers were bound and had been for awhile, as the rotors and pads were metal on metal (whoops). Both sides were completely replaced- pads, rotors, and calipers (he figured if one caliper was binding, the other was or could be soon, though the wear wasn't as bad). He bled the brakes and things were ok for about a month and a half.

My new issue is that the brakes are binding on my drive home from work (after it sits outside for 7-10 hours). The car lugs along. I pull over, try pumping the pedal (which is very stiff) and then make my way home, where my boyfriend takes the car around the block and does something magic and the brakes are no longer stuck. They aren't stuck the next morning, but are when I get in the car at the end of the work day. The wheel wells smell strongly of burning rubber as well.

Things we have checked : We've jacked up both front wheels and the tires spin. They spin less easily when the brake binding problem is present, but they still spin. We've checked the suction, the hoses that connect the booster to the engine, and the brake booster- all appear ok. The brake fluid levels are fine. The pedal remains stiff when you put the car in neutral and even when you turn it off. So what do I do next? We're semi-handy and I'd like to drive this car a bit longer, though I've started the replacement car search.

Toyota - Camry :: 2007 V6 XLE Not Going Into Gear When First Started

I have 2007 Camry V6 XLE. Over the past year we have had at least 5 incidents of the car not going into gear when first started. This includes reverse when leaving garage and drive when out in parkig areas. Toyota claims they have no records of any other claims for this issue. It even happened at the Toyota lot when we were waiting for service to be done during oil change. All fluid levels have been checked and they were good. They suggested we leave car with them so they could try to get it to do this. This has all happened over the last year. We have about 47K miles on vehicle and purchased new.

Toyota - Camry :: 2002 - Stopped Suddenly When Still In Drive

I've been having some problem with my 2002 Camry lately. It started when I was exiting off highway waiting at a stop light when my car just suddenly stop, while the car was still in drive. The battery light, engine light, and oil light came even though the music was still playing. So I put the car to park, turn the key to completely turn off the car and restart the car.

At first it sound like the car was going to start but as I turn the key and keep holding it for the car to start all the way, it just die again. I try again but this time I step on the gas pedal at the same time I turn the key and after two or three press on the gas pedal, the car work and all the light was off. Everything was fine. This would happen every other day and I would do the same thing to it but don't know why this is happening.

Toyota - Camry :: ABS Light Started Flashing On Startup

This is for our '05 Toyota Camry with 125K miles on the ODO, has ABS but no TPMS.

Around a few weeks ago the ABS light started flashing on start-up. Turned engine off and it went away. This has happened 3 times to far. The light stays off otherwise. Before this we had new tires installed and the car aligned and they said the rear was a bit off (had uneven tire wear), not sure if related or not.

I was able to read the code with shorting two pins and I get 33 & 34 which is both the rear wheel sensors. The part that I am suspicious about is both sensors going out together that not make sense. So I am thinking it is the wiring somewhere. Hopefully not the module ...

For now I have cleared the codes and want to see if they return. The sensors are expensive and seems like I have to take the rear bearing off to change them, so not keen on just throwing parts at it. How to approach the troubleshooting?

The car does not overheat with or without the thermostat.
