Camry :: 2003 Toyota - Gurgling Noise Coming From Dashboard

I own a 2003 Toyota Camry and whenever I press on the accelerator, I have noticed a gurgling sound coming from the dashboard. I have also noticed radiator fluid backing up into the reservoir, but the car is not overheating. I have already replaced the thermostat and drained the system and filled it with new radiator fluid. That has not worked. Why this is happening.

Camry :: 2007 LE - Noise Coming From Engine At Idle?

I have a 2007 Camry LE, with about 104,000 miles on it. Lately I've noticed a noise ONLY when the car is idling, rather in park or drive. I don't hear it all when I'm driving. It's somewhat hard for me to tell if it's coming from the engine or under the car, but its definitely near the front and sounds lower in the body. My first instinct told me that it was related to the exhaust system, but it doesn't quite sound like a rattle. It sounds closer to a belt struggling to turn...it actually sounds a little bit like when my water pump and alternator went, but I had those replaced 15 months ago so I really don't think it's that at all. I also had the radiator replaced 2 months back, so I don't think it's that. I don't know drive far to work, so I haven't put a lot of miles on the car in the last year.

Otherwise the car drives normally, just hear this sound at idle. The only other thing I've noticed over time is that when the car gets to about 2500-3000 miles after an oil change, I notice the light flashes when making hard turns..but that's it, and it goes away when I get the oil changed. Obviously I know that the engine is burning oil probably faster than it should, but I'm not sure if that might somehow be related to what I'm hearing above.

Camry :: 2003 / 1MZ-FE Engine Was Not Coming Up To Temp As Fast As Normal

On my 03 Camry (1MZ-FE engine) I noticed a few weeks ago that my engine wasn't coming up to temp as fast as normal. It was taking an additional 10-20min. Took it to my mechanic saying I had a potential faulty thermostat. They said they observed the thermostat opening and closing but coolant was a little low, which they topped off for me. Didn't replace anything or charge me for their services.

Now it's two weeks later and my CEL comes on. Take it to Autozone and I get codes P0128, P0420, P0430. So it would seem that my assumption was right on the faulty thermostat. But now I need to know how the other two codes are related to the thermostat. Based on what i have read, if the engine doesn't come up to temp right away, the computer will deliver more gas to the engine, thus creating a richer mixture, which in turn is not good for the catalyst system.

Could it be possible that just by replacing the thermostat (which i am going to do tomorrow) would cause the other codes to disappear? I'm thinking that I should, in this order:

- Replace thermostat
- Replace one (or both O2 sensors) (upstream or downstream first?)
- Replace converter

I've also read that you can offset the O2 sensors out of the exhaust stream to fool the engine, while still maintaining acceptable emission levels (due to Toyota having a higher than normal acceptable level).

Camry :: V6 - High Pitched Ringing Noise Coming From Engine

I have a high pitched ringing noise coming from the engine and I can't figure out what is causing it. The only thing I can recall is that it started happening after I changed out all the spark plugs.

This is the area it is coming from...

Camry :: High Pitched Whining Noise Coming From The Engine Bay

Turned my car (07 SE v7 with 240k on the clock) on this AM and there was a high pitched whine coming right from the engine bay - matched to the revs of the car, regardless of gear.

This is a new noise to me and the car - but I'm assuming it's some kind of belt issue.

Camry 2012+ :: Timing Chain Rattle Noise Coming From The Engine?

I've noticed a noise coming from the engine which sounds to me like the timing chain. Seems like the tensioner is keeping the chain a little loose while the RPM's are low. The rattle doesn't happen all the time; only when I let off the throttle or accelerate keeping the RPM's low.

This is just my guess that it's the timing chain. I had heard a similar rattle in my old I35 and I had to change the timing chain tensioner.

I'm going to check the engine oil level tomorrow morning. This 10,000 mile oil change is really starting to seem like a not so good idea! Right now I'm at 9950..

Camry :: 2003 - Light Banging / Tapping Noise Coming From Intake Manifold Area

I have a 2003 Camry 4 cyl. around 60,000 miles on odometer and for around 3 months the engine seems to have gotten louder while at idle. At the back of the engine around the plastic intake manifold area the engine is making a light banging / tapping noise. It never made this noise before. The engine idles fine and the car drives normally.

I always keep an eye on the fluid levels and they are up to par. I'm not sure what is going on and if I should just keep an eye on it. I have provided a link below to a video of the noise. The noise can be heard best starting around 15 seconds into the video and fades away around 26 seconds into the video. [URL] .....

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: Noise Like Belts Slipping Coming From Engine

I drive a 2002 F-150 (4.2L) with 150K miles. A noise similar to the belts slipping started up the other day but stopped when I drove the truck for a short distance. So I thought slipping belts was the problem but the noise started up again even after driving several miles. The noise only comes on intermittently and not all the time. In fact, it never comes on when a mechanic is looking at it so they think I am hearing things.

I had the belt changed out and the mechanic said he thought the water pump was going out. So I had that changed out. He had the alternator checked out and it was good. The truck runs fine but the noise still comes and goes. It sounds like a high pitch vibration or like something is rubbing against something else but only periodically. What it could be?

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 1999 - Chirping Noise Coming From Engine

I own a 1999 F-150 V6 4.2 and would like solving what sounds to be a chirping noise coming from the engine. Noise is pretty consistent at which occurs at first startup while in park, drive or reverse and definitely every time I hit the gas from a standstill. The noise is pretty faint but bothers me just enough to where I want to ask the experts. Anyway noise began roughly days after I washed down the motor. I sprayed some degreaser on it and was very careful - making sure to cover the fuse box, alternator and high flow k&n intake air filter.

I stayed away from cables and just used a garden hose. Recently I had the lower idle pulley bearings replaced, serpentine belt and alternator. When I took to Ford for a new belt (it was old) and to inspect the chirping noise, they said # 6 spark plug was loose and that was the reason for the chirp (they called it a ticking noise). First of all how does a spark plug just come loose? They hand tightened it back and I drove the truck for less than a week then the noise was back. Any possibility this sounds like something specific that is wrong? My research says that it could be anything from the belt tensioner to the cam sychronizer to the heat shield around the cat converter.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Ringing Noise Coming From Passenger Side Of Engine In 2003 GTI VR6

Just like the title says i have been hearing this ringing noise in my 2003 gti vr6 and its driving me nuts. Neither my mechanic or I could find this source of this noise with the stethoscope. It seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine but strangely only happens when I LITERALLY shake the car or when its idling and revving. The A/C isn't working either if that means anything. First time owner of a VW by the way.

Ford F-150 - 1997-2003 :: 2001 - Occasional Knocking Noise Coming From Engine

I have a 2001 F150 4x4 4.6L Auto trans. 96,000 miles... I purchased it in Jan with 93,000. About a month ago it started making and occasional knocking noise coming from the engine, this noise was heard at idle in park and in drive. when I revved the motor it would go away but as the idle settle back down you could hear it again. the noise would go away as I was driving and come back with no rhyme or reason, I put a stethoscope on the engine and it seemed loudest under the oil pan. The oil gauge is up between 5/8 to 3/4. Fast forward to now, When I start it I hear a scraping almost grinding noise that resonated thru the cab it has the same intermittent characteristics. I think I am going to remove the serp belt, remove the trans inspection cover next and see what happens. Oh I did put a scan too on it, no codes but did notice 1 long term 02 sensor trim was staying around -.618 if I remember.

Camry :: 2003 / 4 Cyl - Slight Rattling Noise When Start The Engine

I have a 2003 Camry 4 cylinder with ~143K. When I start the engine I can hear a slight rattling noise. When I rev the engine the noise seems to go away (or it is just masked). I noticed the noise after the check engine light came on twice and I had it checked by an exhaust shop. The code was for an O2 sensor, but the exhaust shop said everything looked fine to them. This was about 7K ago. I jacked the car up a few weeks ago to check the exhaust for anything obvious, but couldn't find anything loose to explain the rattle.

I hit the exhaust pipe with my fist and heard a rattle a few times, maybe from the catalytic converter, but I am not certain. Everything runs/operates fine, smooth acceleration, fuel economy is unchanged, engine temperature is unchanged, but the noise persists. I don't know if it is just normal due to age and nothing to really worry about, or if it is the first sign of trouble. I have also noticed that I am using about 1/2 quart of oil between changes, but I'm fairly certain that started before this noise.
