Camry :: Rattle Heard From Engine Compartment On Low RPM
For the last couple days I have been hearing a rattle from somewhere in the engine compartment. It happens on low rpm in a very narrow range. For instance, accelerating gently off a stop it would come on and then stop. Sounds like a diesel engine. Happens when the car wasnt fully warmed up and seems to go away after a period of driving. Heat shield?

There was a TSB for 2AR engine, Engine Knock/Rattle Noise at Cold Startup. My question is for those I4 camry owner, do you have these rattle sound when you start your vehicle at cold? I am not sure if mines have the same issue, but pretty sure is I can't find any differences between mine and this clip:
You Tube
So should I take it to the dealer? Or it's normal?

Camry :: 2007 - Engine Knock Rattle Noise In Gear / Brake Pressed And AC On
So my wifes 07 93k miles started to make a strange knock rattle noise. It sounds like the knock some on here have when the water pump was going out. It only happens when the car is on, in gear ( drive or reverse) brake pressed And AC ON. The engine begins to vibrate under the load and the rattle begins. Sounds like you its coming from behind the alternator under the valve cover. Once I place it park.... or turn the AC off it goes away. It idles fine. Quiet And Smooth. But once I place it year it comes back!!
View 1 RepliesCamry :: 2002 - Car Lost Power And Engine Started To Knock When Going Up
I bought a 2002 camry xle a couple of days ago. The oil light was flickering so I had the oil change yesterday. I drove it around for a little while and everything was fine. The oil light only came on if I had to hit the brakes harder than normal.
So today I decided to take a drive outside of town and everything was fine until I was going up a hill. The car lost power and the engine started to knock. I was able to get it off the road and shut it down really fast. Decided to check the oil and it was hard to tell where it was at on the dip stick. With the dipstick pulled out I notice that there was steam/smoke coming from the dip stick tube.
After I let it cooled down and waiting for a tow truck to come to the rescue, I tried to start it. It ran for a few seconds and then died. During that time I had no power when pressing the gas and it sounded like it was knocking. It was hard to tell the type of noise it was making. Not one did the oil light, check engine light come on until it stop running.
Camry :: 2002 2.4L - Clunk / Rattle Around Engine When Initially Hit Accelerator
Trying to diagnose the below clunk noise as the accelerator is initially pressed?

If there belt tensioner wobbles like this on a 2azfe? There is a noise as you initially press the accelerator but then disappears. You can hear it in the video. I know there is a tsb on the tensioner but the belt doesn't look like its loosening off.
Camry :: 2002 / 2.4 Engine Has Cold Start Rattle In Top Passenger Side

Our 2002 LE Camry master-cylinder reservoir is loose, at least with the engine not running. Is this normal? It moves about 1/4", side-to-side. With the engine running, the pedal almost goes to the floor, but I've been told that's normal. I'm not sure that it is, but my wife seems to get by with it that way. Our engine is 4cyl.
View 4 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Metallic Rattle From Engine Compartment When Accelerate From A Stop
2008 Sonata Limited.
When I accelerate from a stop there is a metallic rattling in the engine compartment. My best guess is that it is near the middle and near the firewall. Can't see much under the hood in this area.
The rattling stops after about 60km/h or so and does not happen at all during cruising otherwise.
Touareg :: Noise Or Rattle In Engine Compartment At Low Speeds And On Uneven Pavement
2007 Touareg with 19",V6, with 10,700 miles
Problem: Noise or rattle in engine compartment, at low speed (less than 25miles/hour) on uneven pavement (not potholes). Can be replicated over and over.
The dealer acknowledge the noise and has tightened all suspension parts, greased all joints, replace front-right shock and bushings (for some reason the noise is more prevalent on Right side), put some sort of tool with sensors in different areas of the chassis to "hear" noise differences while driving to determine the culprit.
Description: To me, the noise sounds like there is something lose in either the engine compartment or the area where the wipers are located. Sort of like if there was something (plastic maybe) hitting the chassis (only at slow speeds - I cannot hear it when driving faster I guess because of engine and road noise). I have not been able to figure it out.
The noise was present only on another 2007 with 8K miles.
Prius (2010-12) :: Engine Rattle / Knock When Traction Battery Low
So I have searched about engine rattle/knock and I have found lots of results for cold starts but I haven't found it for the issue that I am having. I have a 2010 and anytime the battery is real low, around 2 bars and the ICE fires up to charge it, any time I give it a little throttle input, I get heavy valve rattling. It doesn't matter if its cold or hot, it does it as long as the battery is low. I never get this noise when battery is charged up, only when low. I have a link to the video below and you can see once I give it some input, it starts to sound like an old diesel tractor. Prius has close to 200K on the odometer and all my maintenance is up to date. Please turn the speakers up but the noise is right at 5 seconds in or so.

View 38 RepliesAccord :: Throttle Body Vibration - High Frequency Rattle Noise Inside Engine Compartment
So I'm at my wits end trying to locate (and fix) a loud, high frequency rattle noise inside the engine compartment.
It can be heard when applying the gas pedal a certain amount. In other words, I can "find" the noise and maintain it at a certain rpm.
The noise is coming from the back of the engine near the firewall. It feels and sounds like it's coming from the throttle body plate and vibrating the gas pedal. I cleaned the plate and it isn't loose.
The issue doesn't seem to be affecting engine performance.
The sound is noticeable while driving (under load). When in park, I can find an rpm where the throttle body seems to take a heavy wave of vibration from the engine and hum (but not nearly as loud as while driving). Issue existed before I put on new motor mounts, and still persists after replacing all 4 (although the vibration and noise are reduced).

I have a ford Ranger with a 2.5 and 231,000 miles. I bought this truck with a misfire on #1 cylinder. drove it home and started it a couple days later and still misfire on #1 but as soon as you rev up the motor the #2 starts misfiring as well and dies. start it back up and misfire on #1, rev up the throttle and misfire on #2 also.
Here's what i have done so far. intake gaskets, plugs and wires, checked fuel pressure (good), swapped injectors on 1 and 2 with different injectors, timing belt, tensioner, swapped coils from primary to secondary no change, checked compression and all 155 and above.
I have talked to everyone i know and am getting no where. the truck can sit and run for a hour with a minor misfire on #1 but as soon as you hit the gas it starts another misfire on #2. I am thinking it is a ecm issue.
Camry :: 2010 XLE - Transmission Squeal From Engine Compartment
So I just took my 2010 Camry xle-4 in today for brakes and a squealing noise coming from the engine compartment, 76,000 on the odometer. Thought they were going to tell me one of the two belts needed to be replaced and to my surprise they tell me it is the transmission. If you put it in park the noise is gone. I have the 100,000 Toyota backed extended warranty. the tech stated what I did not know until today - sealed transmission. They had to requested an adjuster (warranty requirement) to come out and look at the vehicle prior to ordering a new transmission - no repair option. Vehicle shifts with no issues, drives fine.

I've noticed on my 2013 LE that after backing out of my driveway, I put it in D and after about 4 seconds, I get a deep "buzz" from the engine compartment that lasts only 1 second. Is this normal? Is it part of the torque converter or transmission?
I don't notice anything unusual on the shifting action and this happens both in winter and summer. There are no issues with the transmission that I can tell.
Camry :: 02 V6 Stalled - Fuel Leaking From Engine Compartment
My car just stalled a few minutes after I started smelling fuel. I managed to get the car to a safe place and I realized that I was leaking fuel from the engine compartment. This is the area where the leak was coming from....the orange/yellow plastic thing in the middle is where the fuel is dripping from.....
View 10 RepliesHyundai - Sonata - Alternators :: 2002 - Battery Lights Comes On While Water Got Into Engine Compartment
I currently own a 2002 Hyundai sonata that was purchased brand new I have mostly kept up with the general maintenance spark plugs, air filters, oil changes, etc. but have been lenient on some of the less noticeable things such as belts background history: my car's alternator has tested fine at multiple places (Walmart and advance auto parts) but when I had tested it, it had only produced around 30 amps when it was built to producing about 90, i assume this is because of a bad diode.
I thought i could just use it until it completely died (despite the fact that it could harm my battery) because I'm still in school and cant afford a lot at the moment, but last night when I was driving home (it was wet out with deep puddles) and I drove through a rather deep puddle with a lot of water getting into the engine compartment. (i have driven this car through many puddles some making a much larger splash, with no problems what so ever.) shortly after I left for work and my batter light was on, I tried different things like turning the AC on high to see if they worked better at high revaluations to find out whether it was the battery or the alternator, as it turns out the fan maintained a constant speed and after work my car started.
I got about 20 feet and it died, my Friend came to charge my car but when he jumped me, the alternator started working again even though not 30 minutes ago it was not, the same thing happened to me today (same puddle same rout) the alternator didn't work going to work and it miraculously did when i went home my alternator is obviously bad and needs to be changed, but is it the alternator causing this problem, or something else?
Camry :: 2003 Toyota LE - Loud Noise From Inside Engine Compartment
2003 Toyota Camry LE 4 cylinder
I am experiencing a loud noise which is getting worse from inside my engine compartment. I took off the heat shield assuming it was coming from the exhaust manifold but it is not. It sounds more like it is coming from the intake manifold. Now I would assume it was the intake manifold issue that has been described in many threads but it is not a vibration or clanging sound. It just sounds like air is escaping from my intake. What baffles me is that the sound is loudest in drive. Then neutral is the next loudest, then reverse there is very little unordinary sound.
I hear it a little bit when I am going like 15-20 MPH in reverse and let off the gas to decelerate. There is a noticeable noise increase just at idle too. I checked and all fluid levels are good. I changed the tranny fluid about a month ago and according to the dipstick it is right on where it should be. The sound is increasing and I am worried about what it may be. It sounds as if it has an exhaust leak but I do not see anything.
