Buick - Riviera :: 1995 - Won't Start When Put The Key In?
I have a 95 Buick Riviera. When you put the key in, the car won't start. Then, you take the key out, and it starts. Then the next time you go to start the car, it won't start.

I bought a one-owner, 50,000 mile Buick Lucerne in February. Yesterday I heard a squeaking noise from the steering wheel/column and it is there today. Does this mean I need to lubricate or replace the lower seal on the steering shaft?
View 2 RepliesBuick - Riviera :: 1998 - Oil Level Light Comes On And Car Shuts Off
Buick Riviera 1998 Supercharger
Oil LEVEL light comes on and car shuts off. Take note...NOT oil pressure light- which is the one that looks like a genie lamp. It says OIL LEVEL. This trips up every mechanic I have spoken to.
Doesn't stall (like sputter and die) just shuts off like a safety switch has been tripped or something. But it is an older car 1998 Buick Riviera Supercharger. You wouldn't think it would have that safety feature but maybe. You can start car but if I put it in reverse or even when I am driving the car oil LEVEL light will come on and car will shut off. Only happens when we get to normal operating temp.
So here is what I did. First, changed oil and filter just to be sure there was no odd clog and it was due anyway. Still had the same symptoms.
Next, I discovered that we have a separate supercharger oil reservoir. No mechanic that I spoke to knew this. I changed the oil in the reservoir because the level was low and I am sure that it has never been changed. Didn't work.
Next, I changed the oil PRESSURE sensor because even though I know it says oil level I figure it has to do with a misread on pressure. Didn't work.
Next I disconnected the wires going to the oil level sensor to test and see if it is a funky level sensor. Plus I didn't feel like changing the oil again in order to change the sensor. Didn't work.
Next. I changed the oil level sensor. Still...a no go. Drive for a bit and get up to normal operating temp and oil LEVEL light comes on and car shuts off.
Note: there is no sound. No sputtering or clanking or anything.
Riviera - Buick :: 1995 Dies Or Won't Start At All When Turn Blinker On
95 Buick Riviera Supercharger .... when turn blinker on, car dies....or won't start at all. Have to try several times and wait for indicator lights on dash to come on and for the door/key alarm to sound before can turn over car. Sometimes have to turn steering wheel til wheels are straight. Son started hitting/shaking steering to get it to start. Ignition Control Module?
View 2 RepliesBuick - Riviera :: 1998 - Only Click And No Start When Place The Key In Ignition
We have a lovely 1998 Buick Riviera with less than 140,000 miles. Normally, it runs great but in the last year, it has developed a neurosis. When we try to start it, 98% of the time, it starts immediately. Once in awhile, you can place the key in the ignition, "click" and nothing. It's as if the car were dead. Trying over and over is a waste of time. You have to wait about 5 minutes or so and WHAM! ... it starts right away. Then it will continue to start fine for days and have a relapse. I can usually tell that it is about to happen because there will be a tiny (fraction of a second) gap between the moment we turn the key and the response. It will do this 4-5 times and then "play dead". Wait 5 minutes and no problem. Then it will continue to run fine for days - even weeks.

View 5 RepliesBuick - LaSabre :: 2003 - Wobbles When Accelerating
My Buick started wobbling during accelerating a few months ago. It only does this from 45 to 55 MPH. If I stay between 45 and 55 it continues to wobble. Slower or faster and it quits. I've had it in the shop 4 times and they can't find the problem. The first shop changed the steering angle sensor but that didn't fix the problem. I took it to another shop. They couldn't find anything wrong. I took it back and they said a tie rod end had some play. They changed that. They did an alignment afterwards. They've also balanced the tires twice during this process. None of this fixed it. I took it back and they couldn't find anything so I ask them to check the motor mounts and they said they are good. They said everything in the front end feels tight. I like my car without the wobble and it only has 79,000 miles on it. How am I going to find out what the problem is?
View 1 RepliesCamry :: 2008 - Steering Wobbles When Brake
Brake issue I am facing. Last year maybe 13 months ago i changed my front rotors along with new brake pads. (centric rotors and hawks ceramic pads on both the fronts). Now after 11000 miles my cars has same issue that i had a year ago. Which is when i brake the steering wobbles. last year the mechanic said it was due to warped rotors, so we replaced everything cuz he said it was too bad to resurface it. Now after 11k miles same problem. And the local tune up shop said my brake fluid is low as well. My two younger sibling drive this car as well .
View 2 RepliesGolf/GTI VII :: Front Wobbles While Steering Wheel Turned?
For the past month or so, I've noticed an unsettled "wobble" of the front end of my 2015 GTI SE PP when backing out of my driveway and turning the steering wheel. It feels like the front end is extra nose-heavy (yes, it's a front wheel drive car- I get it) or like the steering is too boosted and is over steering beyond my inputs. I am now noticing it when I enter a driveway going forward with the front wheels turned.
Tires (the god-awful all-seasons) are at 37psi, alignment should be fine (no potholes, curbs or off-road excursions) on a 4-month old car. No suspension mods yet. I had each side up on jack stands looking for suspension pucks in the front and found none. This is really impacting my enjoyment of the car and what to check. I'll be putting the front up again this weekend to look for any bent suspension pieces or loose parts.
Elantra HD (2006-10) :: Shimmy At 12 And 40 MPH - Steering Wheel Stays Still But Rest Of Car Wobbles
I have a 2007 hyundai elantra gls (80,000miles) that shimmies at 12 and 40 mph. The steering wheel stays still but the rest of the car wobbles.
I've replaced the tires and the rims and had them rotated, balanced and hub rings put on.
I've also replaced the motor mounts. (This is probably unrelated but I also just had the serpentine belt, water pump, and all the other belts replaced as well.)
I can hit the gas and get through the wobbly speeds and it seems to be fine....but I drive around 40 mph most of the time!
Ford - Explorer :: 2012 - Steering Wheel Wobbles Under Medium To Hard Braking
I have a 2012 Explorer Limited with 95K miles. Under medium to hard braking, the steering wheel wobbles, and the car slows irregularly. I'm struggling to find the best word to describe. It's not a vibration or a shudder. It's like a pulsing that is slow enough to be counted. The car doesn't pull to a side under braking, either.
I put a dial indicator on both rotors, and they are nearly perfectly flat. There is no evidence of a leak anywhere. The only think I noticed is that the DS caliper had a little more pressure on the rotor, making the rotor harder to turn than the PS rotor.
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: F250 - Steering Wheel Wobbles / Loose
I have a F250 SD with a 6.0 diesel. My steering wheel is loose. I tested and know for sure is not a problem inside the cabin. Fallow the line thru the linkage to the steering box by the left front wheel. I found an adjustable switch there. Just on top of the steering box. It has a lock nut that must be loosen to adjust what it looks like a hex. Very hard to reach. I have watch some Youtube videos but on different vehicles.
View 1 RepliesFord Super Duty (1999-2016) :: Steering Wheel Shakes Back And Forth And Whole Truck Wobbles
I have a 1999 f350 7.3. I'm having a problem where the steering wheel shakes back and forth and the whole truck wobbles. It happens at all speeds, but shakes faster at faster speeds, slower at slower speeds. At first the wheel was just jerking randomly but then I made a right turn, heard a pop, and then it was shaking like crazy. I jacked up the truck and checked the ball joints, checked for and play in the tie rods, and turned the wheel left and right. Everything seems ok so I can't figure out what is causing to wheel to go back and forth.
View 2 RepliesFord Ranger / B-Series :: 2000 - Power Steering Pulley Wobbles Slightly / Belt Squeaking
I purchased a new 2000 mazda b4000 2 weeks ago and the belt was squeaking and I knew I had to change the water pump so I replaced it and the squeaking didn't went away... I thought maybe my idler pulley bearing was worn out cause I could see it wobble back and fourth when the engine was running... Replaced it, still squeaking! Change my belt still squeaking! look further turns out my power steering pulley wobbles slightly. I'm thinking about trying a gator back belt and see if the squeaking goes away. Could it be dangerous to run the truck as it with a slight misalignment in the power steering pulley? or it'll be a must replacement asap?
View 3 RepliesSaturn - Vue :: Steering Column Locks And Cannot Turn Key
My father who is elderly, has difficulty disengaging the steering column lock on his 2006 Saturn Vue. I also have experienced this problem even after trying to rock the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key over. This appears to be a known problem and we have had to tow the Vue in for have the cylinders "de-burred," but the problem persists. He has had many vehicles with this feature in the past, but we have never had any problems before. Does this feature can be disabled. I am afraid he will be stranded some place away from home because he is unable to get the car started. I realize this is an anti-theft device, but it that is a risk we are willing to take.

Well I think I am finally getting to the end of my lighting problems. I cannot find a bad fuse. Which fuse it might be, or some other items to check?
View 2 RepliesPhaeton :: Steering Column Adjustment Failure
Been monitoring this excellent forum for a while, having taken the plunge last year. The car is stunning, although I have been waiting for a gremlin or two for a while now and it finally seems to have happened.
Having set up the driving position using the excellent forum guide, all was well. Last week, however, the steering column failed to move out from the dash to the memorized position. I have tried manually, to no avail. All other motion - up, down and away appear to be normal, just the switch or motor that moves the column towards the driver.
Passat (B6) :: 2006 - Steering Column Failure
It's a 2006 2.0 Turbo. It died last night, had it jumped, drove it 2.5 miles to get gas & wha-la ...dead. Since it was late had it towed back to the house (it's just me...no other car available). I've researched until after midnight and started seeing recalls, tsb...and not into anything about cars except counting on them! It started smelling like sulfur after many attempts to charge the battery..
