Avalon 2005-12 :: Automatic Volume Control - No Navigation Unit
How to turn off automatic volume control on a 2012 Toyota Avalon with no navigation unit. I just purchased this Avalon and noticed this morning as I drove and listened to music that the volume keeps going up and down as I accelerate and decelerate. I cannot find anything in my owners manual on how to turn off the automatic volume control.

Like a dummy I left my 2011 in drive overnight and didn't go out to drive it until this afternoon. It wouldn't start. Tried to jump it with a Camry and still would not start, but inside lights did come on. Do you think it's the battery? Should my next move be to get a car battery charger and try to charge it? Battery looks new. Car is less than a month old.

I went to start my new to me '11, and noticed head-or-fog-lights were on when the car was cranking to start. I checked and yes I'd left the light switch on, and yes the car had shut them off correctly - but will it also turn them on and then start the car ? Seems like a needless strain on the battery .

I changed the oil and filter in my new to me 2010 Avalon with Mobil One 5W-30 and OEM Toyota oil filter.
Prior to oil change was M1 5w-30 oil with a Service Champ oil filter.
Prior to oil change the oil light went off almost Instantly and there with almost no start up rattle.
After oil change the light oil light goes off much slower...say 2-3 seconds and there is engine rattle for approx. 2 - 3 seconds.

I noticed for the last couple weeks, my wife's 05 Limited has developed some kind of buzzing sound around the dash on start up.
In the morning, once I get in and press engine start, there is a buzzing, d...zzz..d....d..zzz.zzz.... noise coming from the dash area. I turned the car off and restart, it went away. It happened once a while. This morning, same noise, I kept on driving, probably after 30 sec, it stopped..

Went to start my '11 - -maybe still w/ original battery...made a chatter noise and now no crank - -no start. Is this the battery dead ? I'd even guess maybe the starter's stuck ? I've got it on a slow charge... I had the ' Maint Req.' lite on- - thought it was for an oil change ?

I replaced an alternator pulley on my 06 Avalon. Everything was put together and it wouldn't start now. I got DTC P0335 "Crankshaft Position Sensor". I checked all the connectors and they were connected, no broken fuses. It didn't have spark either. I remembered that I forgot to disconnect the battery when I removed the alternator and it got zapped a couple of times. Could this fry the ECM or short out circuit?

I have a 2011 Avalon and only 7000 miles on it. For the past month or two I've been getting a weird smell from the AC. Never got that smell when I first got the car. Smelt perfectly fine like a brand new car until now. I don't know how to describe the smell, but I know it isn't the smell of a dead animal. When I first start my car after it has been sitting for awhile, lets say over night, the smell is evident for the first 10 seconds. After those ten seconds the smell goes away and I don't really smell much of it. The smell is there but you can barely smell it. However, whenever I turn the "AC" button off but leave the fan running, the smell becomes very evident and it doesn't go away.
I've tried checking the filter. The filter was perfectly fine. It was clean with a little area of black on it which i believe is normal. Also the smell that I smelt wasn't in the filter. Another question is, is the filter facing upward suppose to be collecting the pollen and junk? Or it is suppose to be collected from the bottom? I might have replaced the filter the wrong way.

I have a 2007 Limited and the remote start function does not want to work. I press the correct sequence on the key fob and I hear a click but no "starter" activity.

Changed all the spark plugs and also new coils on the rear bank, drove car and the code 302 returned. Did not have the code while idling, code came up when started driving. Added lucas fuel injector cleaner to the gas tank. Curious about Seafoam and if I should try it and which method to use it by. I know it can be added to oil, fuel, or injected right into the vacuum hose from the brake booster. My wife's car and she is getting crabby.

I have a 05 Avalon keyless ignition that I have recently replaced the battery because the car wouldn't start not even with a jump. With new battery everything comes on in the dash as normal, but the car won't start. Could it be the starter is gone bad or could it be a fuse?

Dealer advised to call the Toyota 800 number due to my 36K warranty is gone. Called toyota and they referred me back to my dealer who is giving me the stall.

My 2012 transmission seems to slip a fair amount (much more when it's cold).
When I say slip, I mean, when I give it the gas, it will rev up sometimes, and not move or move very little, while other times it will jerk around like a wild horse. The engine will rev / jump from 2,000 rpm to 4000 back and forth, back and forth. It will do this until it shifts to a higher gear and will stop doing it after 5 - 10 minutes?
On one occasion while going up a steep hill, it starting going backwards while I was giving it the gas. It caught up to itself and started jerking forward until it caught and went forward.
Avalon 2005-12 :: Cold-start Idle Is High After Cleaned Throttle Body
The other day I disconnected battery, then removed and cleaned the throttle body. Now cold-start idle is high, and erratic,
goes to 1,600, drops to 1,000
- back to 1600, drops, up to 1,400
-- wavers there, and then finally,
starts to taper down to steady idle of about 650-700 rpm.
Since battery disconnected, does not seem there would be a chance for TB to "un-synch" with cars computer.
Gen 2 Prius :: 2005 - Adding Back Up Cam / Possible To Simply Switch The Unit?
I have a 2005 model, which I bought used a few months ago. I've loved most of the car, but the issue I struggle the most with is the fact that the back is really quite difficult to see out of. I find myself looking all around instead of just back, as I used to do with my 2005 Camry. I have the model without the backup camera, nav, or bluetooth (I don't know if thats base or not, because I still have Smart Key entry)
I was wondering if its possible to simply get a Toyota camera and install it with the MFD I have installed, or if I'd have to change the MFD as well. If I have to change the MFD, do I have to get a whole new wiring harness or simply switch the unit?
