Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2010 - AC Compressor Is Making Growling Noise
We have a 2010 Hyundai Accent, with low miles (10,000), and the A/C Compressor is making a "growling" noise. The only way to explain the noise is when you hear a human try to immiate the sound of a dog growling. That's exactly what it sounds like.
First thing in the morning it doesn't make the noise to much, but as you drive for a bit you will start to hear it. Sometimes it's really loud, sometimes quieter. When you shut the A/C off, it will continue for a few seconds then stop.
The service department told me it was the compressor and it is, "pretty normal on the cars." How is that normal though? It sounds awful.
Ford - Escape :: Continuous Growling Noise Louder With Acceleration
Continuous noise. woooooWOOOOOO. I have a problem with my '05 Escape 4wd. 110k mileage, the sound started with 4 new tire installation a month ago. I thought it was tire noise since I had bought a different tread design, we replaced the brakes too. The sound is getting louder. Louder with acceleration, when on curve it increases.
View 2 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Humming Noise That Gets Louder As Speed Increases
Starting at about 30mph there's a humming noise that gets louder as speed increases. It doesn't seem to change if I am steering right or left and i have no steering wheel shake or any sort of noticeable bumping at 60mph. Could this just be my tires making noise, they are quite worn by now.
View 12 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: Growling Noise At 1900 RPMs When Car Is Under Load
I recently purchased a 2003 jetta 1.8t 5 speed manual and it wasn't making this noise when I first bought it.. It's almost like a growling/grinding noise. It's sounds like it's coming from my middle console but it could be coming from the engine bay hard to tell, but the only time this noise happens is at 1900 rpms when the car is under load like if I'm going a hill it's pretty loud when I'm going slow, the previous owner had the water pump, timing belt, and clutch done 10k miles ago. I have a feeling it's from the clutch/transmission or maybe from the timing belt?
View 2 RepliesCelica :: Car Drops The Acceleration - Louder Noise Under Load
I have 93 GT-S, AT, 2.2, 163,000 miles.
My problem is slow acceleration. As I get on the highway and give it the gas my car slowly climbs to my travel speed at 75 mph. She will climb steady at around 3000-3100 rpm. When I punch it the car revs to approx. 4000 rpm but then quickly drops back to 3000 without me letting off the gas. Almost sounds like its bogging down. Another thing I noticed while cruising at around 65 mph is that the car bucks a little but I don't hear any misfiring. Also, when I do step on the gas, the car is severely louder. Almost sounds like it's coming from under the hood. I tried parking it, opening the hood, and listened to the engine while giving her the gas but she sounds much quieter. So the louder noise seems to happen under load. Please note there is no check engine light.
Is this one issue or possibly multiple issues? Could my TPS be an issue here as well?
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Whining Noise Through Radio Speakers While Using Aux Plug
We have a 2010 accent with the basic stock radio and we just put in a an aftermarket XM radio. The problem we have is that when you plug the XM unit into the 12volt power plug and hook the XM radio into the stock radio AUX plug you hear a loud whining noise thru the speakers.
View 3 RepliesGolf IV / Jetta IV :: GTI 1.8T Turbo Has Louder Whining Noise When Accelerate
I noticed last night that my cars turbo had a much louder whining noise when I accelerate. There is no blow off, doesn't sound like much air coming in and also there is not very much boost being put out at all. I've come to think that it may be a loose seal or gasket along the way but I'm sure hoping it isn't a pooched turbo... I don't have a boost gauge so checking boost pressure isn't an option right now. Just noticed from putting foot down but no boost.

View 11 RepliesGTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Whining Noise Getting Louder As The Revs Get Higher
So I get in my car, start it up. as i drive away i notice a whining noise, as the revs get higher the noise gets louder. so i push the clutch in and rev it. Got that same whining noise, gets louder as the rev goes higher etc... so i turn the car off come back a little while later and its still making that noise. It doesn't really sound like a belt noise,
It was the power steering fluid, thought it was low. I haven't checked that yet...
Subaru - Outback :: 2002 - Whining Noise From Center To Rear That Gets Louder With Acceleration?
I have an 02 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport with 130k miles. It makes a whining noise from the center to rear of the car that gets louder with Acceleration. The second you take your foot off the gas it gets quieter. The noise never completely disappears though. It also doesn't change if I am turning or driving straight.
View 2 RepliesToyota - Yaris :: 2009 - High Pitched Whining Noise Getting Louder With Accelerator
I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris with 35,000 miles, and fully up-to-date with all the 5,000-mile usual maintenance checks [no prior problems]. Driving on a hot day, I hit Bakersfield and the car started to make a high-pitched whining noise, which got louder with the accelerator and softer when I took my foot off the gas. I thought perhaps the car was overheating and let it rest for a while, and checked the coolant [which was at a normal level]. I finished the drive to LA and stopped by the Toyota dealer who said it must have just been the fan given the hot weather.
The noise went away overnight, but the next day I was driving around town when it was overcast and cool, and even driving locally, the car made the whining noise intermittently, especially loud at low speeds like coasting in a parking lot, and the noise has been getting louder and sounding more pathological--not like a normal engine or fan noise, but like a truly problematic high-pitched straining sound. Sometimes it comes on when I start the car, sometimes restarting the car makes the noise go away for an hour or two.
It sounds almost like an electric razor being whipped around like a numchuck - a hitch pitched whine that is rotating in the engine and speeds up with the accelerator and calms down but doesn't go away at a stoplight. Perhaps I finally ran over my neighbor's annoying kitty. But today's latest Toyota mechanic also couldn't figure it out because the noise didn't start when he turned on the car and didn't restart on his test drive, but only a few hours later after I'd driven the car around town.
Accent LC (2000-05) :: Growling Noise When Pushing On Gas
My car makes a low like growling noise when I push on the gas. It does it into first and second gears. Its not constant just mainly after the car has bit sitting a while. What the problem could be?
View 1 RepliesSubaru - Forester :: 2001 - Making Whining Noise / Louder And Slightly Higher-pitched As Accelerate
My car is making a sort of whining noise; it sounds like some sort of tire noise, but I checked the tires and don't see anything that could be problematic. My husband checked to see if anything was rubbing, and doesn't find anything. The car is quiet when it is not moving, and the noise gets somewhat louder and slightly higher-pitched as I accelerate. It almost seems like the noise changed on a different road surface, but again, I don't see anything different with the tires. The car has about 140-150,000 on it. The noise has only been noticeable for a couple of weeks. No other problems, no change in steering or handling. No incident that I can think of that could have been a catalyst.
View 4 RepliesPhaeton :: Warbling Whining Noise From Under The Car Only Noticeable Under Load Uphill In 5th
My 08 3.0 tdi is back in the dealer again, 8 months of ownership and it's been off the road 8 weeks in total now. Started with a warbling whining noise from under the car, that is only noticeable under load up hill in 5th, it worse the steeper the hill and more weight in the car, can also be made to do it on the flat whilst towing my boat.
Dealer initially diagnosed a failed bearing in the gearbox and it was replaced under warranty at 59500mls - lucky escape for me. Unfortunately this did not cure the problem and after months of further inspections and enquries the diff was also replaced - to no affect! Much hand wringing unsued from the embarrassed and fed up dealership and they decide to replace the propshaft - still to no affect
I now have a new problem with the air conditioning - the condenser has corroded through under the paint next to one of the mounting lugs, not what you expect on a vehicle of this quality - this is going to be a substantial bill for something that shouldn't have failed on a vehicle that not even reached it's 3rd birthday!
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Cold Ticking Sound Getting Louder
Alright so my car is up to 112k miles, other than oil change, a battery, tires, and a new ignition (tumblers fell apart somehow) its had zero maintenance really done to it. Which I know, this means its long over due for things like spark plugs, timing belt, and other mic. stuff. Its almost all highway miles, and really has no problems. I haven't put much into it because it hardly gets driven in the summer since I ride my motorcycle. The only issue is that Indiana has had a lot of rain this year so ive been driving it more.
The Problem- for months now its made a light ticking sound on start-up for about 30 seconds, and it fades away. If I rev the engine the sound gets faster, but still takes time to go away. As of Recently, the sound has gotten louder for about the first 10 seconds, and I'm worried it may become a serious issue and leave me stranded because I drive about an hour one way to work every day. So before I start throwing parts at it, where should I start?
Timing belt?
Valve Adjustment? (not sure how to do this but I'm sure there is a guide)
Plugs?
No I'm not running a FRAM Filter, its a Mobile 1, with full synthetic oil changed about every 6-7k miles. I plan to do the belt and spark plugs as soon as I get some consistent time off, but that may not be until it gets cold again.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Engine Tapping Louder Than Ticking
Came off the highway just now and there's a tapping sound coming from the engine. It's louder than the ticking these engines make so believe me it's nothing I've heard before. No codes, no overheating and doesn't seem to be anything else wrong. I am due for an oil change soon and I'm wondering if that could be it?
The engine wasn't cold obviously. I did shut off the car and then back on and it still did it. Just want to make sure my engine isn't going to explode anytime soon!
Ford Super Duty (1999-2016) :: 2003 6.0 4WD - Low Rumble Noise / Whining When At Light Throttle Load And Above 50 - 60 MPH
I have a 2003 F250 SD with 130K miles. I primarily use it to pull a race car, about 5000 lbs is all. It has all the upgrades, from studs to EGR delete. Ford replaced the automatic transmission in 2005. I'm looking at a truck newer than 2011, but thinking either a flex fuel 250 or diesel. I want it loaded and 4WD, but they seem expensive.
Anyway, I have bad front wheel bearings. I know this because of the low rumble noise and how it acts when I rock the steering. How tough are they?? I build my entire race cars, so I have a well-equipped garage and some ability to cuss, but I don't have a lot of time. A buddy wants to do it for $300 total for both sides plus parts cost.
Also, this is the bad part I really need input on. It has a whining when at light throttle load and above 50-60 MPH. This seems to come from the floorboard area behind me. Gear changes do NOT affect the pitch, but a change in throttle crowding makes it louder and weaker. It has no coast down noise at all, and the noise pitch seems to track the drive shaft speed. It is a whine much like the low gear set in an automatic trans, but it does it in any gear with or without 4WD on. The only thing that affects the level is slightly pushing the accelerator, speed, or weight I am towing.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Quick Hiss Just Before Shifting Under Load
Daughter's 09 Accent 86k miles making a very quick hiss when accelerating rapidly and/or uphill about a half second before first shift. Hiss stops noticeably before the shift happens. She reports a slight 'kickback' in the pedal, but I noticed no power loss when the passenger seat. No check engine light. Car has an aftermarket cruise. Sound seems to be coming from the right-ish side of the vehicle and outside the cabin. Doesn't occur under 'grandpa' driving conditions. Pretty much only when using the accelerator as a binary switch.
View 1 RepliesTiguan :: 2012 - Loud Whining / Growling And Rattling Engine Noises
Our 46K mile 2012 Tiguan starting making some pretty loud whining/growling/rattling engine noises recently so I took it to the dealer shop and they diagnosed a bad accessory belt tensioner. However, they didn't have one in stock and would have to order it. Well, that's fine but it's a 300 mile round trip to the dealer so I came home and ordered one from ECS Tuning.
I found a copy of an official VW (ETKA?) procedure on the web for replacing the tensioner for the TSI in a Golf so I suspect the procedure for a Tiguan is similar: remove the bolt for the secondary water pump and move the pump out of the way, remove the end bolt on the tensioner mounting shaft, remove the three bolts from the pendulum/dogbone, support the engine, remove the top two bolts from the passenger side engine mount, drop the engine about 2 inches and pull the tensioner out.
To be honest, I was very surprised that the dealership didn't have a tensioner in stock. This was a rather large and pretty good dealership shop (three service advisors). I guess accessory tensioner failure is really rare on the TSI.
