Passat (B6) :: 2006 2.0T Transmission Jerky When Upshifts From 1st To 2nd Gear
I have a 2006 Passat that I love but it's been doing something since it was new that has finally bothered me enough to do something about it. When the automatic transmission upshifts from 1st to 2nd, it feels really jerky - I don't know how else to describe it. It's like it surges and other times feels chunky. It seems worse after the car has sat overnight or during the day at work however it still does it even after being warmed up - just not as severely.
I called my VW dealership and spoke with a service rep and he suggested allowing the car to warm up for a few minutes before driving to let the transmission fluid 'pump' or something - not exactly confidence inspiring and even if that worked, not a good solution. The good news is that it doesn't work any better after doing that so I suspect something is actually wrong and hoping they will find it before it gets worse. I have an oil change this Thursday but based on my discussion with the service manager, I don't know that I am going to get very far with them.
Sonata I45 (LF 2015+) :: Automatic Transmission - Jerky Downshift From 3 To 2 And 2 To 1
So the problem is that I have a jerky downshift 3-2 and 2-1 that can be felt by everyone in the car (car pushes forward on downshift) until the car warms up. When the car is warm I can feel it slightly at times and feel a clunk when shifting down 3-2 and 2-1. On up-shifts at times the shifts are shaky from 1-2 and 2-3. I have brought this forward to my dealership as well as another one. They all performed software updates and reset the adaptive learning. However every time I got my vehicle back after this procedure I found the A/C was on full blast. So the initial drive by the tech after the reset was learning while the A/C was on. Would this be causing the weird shifting I experience while the A/C is off. I seem to notice a better shifting when the A/C is on but this may just be me trying to reason why my transmission is behaving this way. I drove other 2015 Sonata's and they have much better shifting than my car and no hard jerks on downshifts.
Both dealers have felt the downshifts and have come back and simply said "We've done all the updates and reset and learning. This may just be a normal characteristic of the car." I told them that a brand new vehicle in this day and age shouldn't be shifting poorly when compared to an older vehicle with 300,000 km (my old Honda Civic which are prone to transmission failures). They responded casually saying you can go and get a second opinion from another dealership if you like. I am furious with their responses and just left it at that. I need to know how to get this resolved and if this is indeed something I should expect from my Sonata.
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Automatic Transmission Sluggish Cold Shift
Earlier this year, I worked with my dealer to get a new automatic transmission for my 2007 Accent. I had only had the car for a couple months (purchased used, from my Grandmother who I knew, if anything, had probably been TOO gentle with it.) Only about 40,000km. I found the car extremely hesitant to shift on cool mornings, and allowing the engine to warm up first didn't make much difference. The 2-3 shift was especially late.
The last straw was when, on a frosty morning, the transmission failed to engage 3rd, bucked back out to find 2nd again, and then got 3rd on the next try. It did this a couple of mornings before I was done negotiating with the dealer, who ultimately agreed to supply a new transmission if I paid labour. This despite the car being just outside the 5-year powertrain warranty. I was quite satisfied.
So I enjoy the Summer with no problems -- only the barest hint of transmission "morning sickness", but only if I'm rushing it. I figure "that's an economy car for you". Now that cooler Fall weather has begun, I'm convinced that the new transmission behaves the same way as the first one. I haven't had the "bucking out of gear" problem yet, but the 2-3 shift is already a real dog on cool mornings.

Sonata NF (2006-10) :: Automatic Transmission Slipping In First Gear Like Revving In Neutral
I have an 06 sonata 4 cyl automatic.Today the transmission was slipping in first gear like the car was revving in neutral.Then after restarting the car it was completely normal. Code P0731 showed up.
View 1 RepliesSonata NF (2006-10) :: Automatic Transmission Slipping Occurs Only At Slow Speed When Travel In First Gear
I own a 06 sonata with 95000 miles. Recently I've been having issues with my transmission. It occurs only at slow speed when i travel in first gear. What happens is when the car is moving, it feels like it shifts into neutral but indicator still shows D in the cluster. I press the accelerator nothing happens it just revs,no increase in speed whatsoever.
So that rules out slipping issues. Now i narrowed the problem down a little more whenever the problem crops up i shift the gear lever into sports mode, i feel a jerk and car shifts into first gear and it moves. If i dont shift into sports mode it catches gear in about 7 seconds.No fault codes.
And if i rev it high transmission goes into limp mode and stays in 3rd gear till i restart the car.Then i get P0731 incorrect first ratio.Changed ATF 7000 miles ago. Could it be a faulty range sensor?
Elantra MD (2010-15) :: 2013 GLS Jerky Transmission When Shifts From 3rd To 4th Gear
I just bought a brand new 2013 Elantra! I love the car, but over the past week or so I have started to feel the car's transmission (auto) jerk when it shifts from 3rd to 4th gear. I feel the car hesitate somewhat when going from 3rd and then jerk into 4th gear if that makes any sense. The car has less than 1000 miles and it never did it when I first bought it. The transmission was always smooth until recently. Also, when coasting down the road I feel the car jerk forward when I give it some gas which also feels very strange to me!?

My friend told me the other day her car was in overdrive (hwy driving) and suddenly, it shifted to a lower gear. It seems no one knows why. She does have an extended warranty, but the garage might charge her $300 to open it up to see what is wrong. Another friend suggested a clogged filter. Another one, a sensor.

Car does not pop out of the other forward gears at this time. Car has very good clutch, no slipping. Short shifter, alu. trans/shifter bushing. shifter cables are adjusted correctly. Are my sliders and dog gears for 5th worn out??? Or is my fork bent?? Or both. Do I need to pull trans?
View 2 RepliesPassat (B6) :: 2006 - Jerky In 3rd And 4th Gear After 4.5 RPM?
I had my car flashed 2 months ago with the APR software and have been loving it. Recently, about 4 days ago, I had an oil change and tire rotation and everything was fine. Yesterday, however, something strange happened. In first and second gears, I had no problem, but once I was in third gear, once over 4.5 RPM, the car started to jerk as if were having a hiccup. I then shifted and let it go over 4.5 in fourth, and had the same problem. I turned the car off for about an hour, and went back to driving and the problem was still there. This time, however, after the first jerk in third gear, the check engine light came on. The light is still there as of today. I've got a 2006 2.0T with A/T.
View 2 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Manual Transmission - Hard To Shift From First Gear Sometimes
I have a 2010 accent blue model with stick shift. been fine for 50k miles. Lately i have noticed an issue where i am in first gear and then when i push clutch in to go into second, the lever won't budge. it does eventually go in but it just isn't like it used to be. it happens say about 25% of the time. Since at higher rpms it won't do it but normal rpms it will.
Also, i just had a new short block installed, perhaps something is binding? If I sit in the car, stopped, i can shift into and out of all the gears perfectly. Maybe my 1st gear synchros are going?
Accent MC (2006-11) :: Transmission Hesitates For 4 Or 5 Seconds Before It Engages Forward Gear

Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2008 - Transmission Slipping A Bit / Delay In Gear Shifting
I have a 2008 Accent (base model for the most part, no C/C), and my transmission seems to be slipping a bit. The symptoms are: slow acceleration, a delay in gear shifting, and after the 30MPH mark, it takes forever to get up to anything near 60. I just wanted to know if it's a simple solution such as topping off the transmission fluid, or if it's a bigger issue.

View 4 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Auto Transmission Not Engaging At Idle Then Abruptly Chunking Into Gear
My wife has been using her mom's 07 Accent, the mom is 90 and hasn't been incapable of using it for a while now. I did an oil change (without paying much attention) I've never seen this type of car before. Oddly the oil level seemed outrageously over full and still dirty
Then upon driving it the automatic transmission was all wacky, not engaging at idle, then it abruptly chunking into gear...
So I check the transmission fluid level and it's not on the stick. Research here let me know SP-III is what I'd need. Then while surfing a youtube vid regarding this model's transmission it hit me in the face, I'd drained the automatic transmission fluid! Went to the Kia dealer got 3 quarts dumped it in there, drained the overfilled 5.5 quarts of old and new oil rectifying my mistake, which brings me to the reason for this post.
This 2007 car only has 24,300 miles on it and I mistook the automatic transmission fluid for outrageously dirty engine oil! I swear this stuff looks like it's fulla carbon black n burnt up. My question: is it normal for the trans-fluid to have such a degraded appearance in only 25,000 miles?
Accent MC (2006-11) :: 2009 - When Transmission Is In Gear And Throttle Pushed It Revs Up Like It Is In Neutral
The transmission shifts into gear and when the clutch is released it starts to crawl forward. When the throttle pedal is pushed it still revs up the engine normally. But when the transmission is in gear and the throttle is pushed it revs up like it is in neutral. At first I thought this might be a transmission problem but then I figured it might be a linkage somewhere. After looking under the hood and under the car I still couldn't see anything that would cause this problem. I had this car less than a week when this happened and I had to be towed home.
View 4 RepliesAccent MC (2006-11) :: Suddenly Started Running Real Jerky, Rough / Misfiring
Our Accent has just about 86k on it now, back in November it suddenly started running real jerky/rough, misfiring kinda thing. So I was able to drive it to my local repair shop and they found a bad coil pack on #3, so they replaced that and put in new plugs while they were doing it.
Just Saturday we were shopping about 20 miles from home and cranked it up to go home and started doing it again, pretty much identical symptoms, runs out normal at certain RPMs so I knew it was probably same thing...I was able to get it home and then took it in this morning and sure enough now #1 is shot. So they are replacing that. They want about 30$ more per coil then I can order them for myself online so I didn't want to scarf up the money for the other 2 that are still original.
Accent RB (2012+) :: Automatic Transmission Slamming
I have an Automatic which i almost hate but that is another issue...it seems that if i am in a lower gear a punch it the transmission seems to slam before accelerating. I figured if it turned into a big problem it is still under warranty. but I am just curious considering ive driven it a year like this.
View 3 RepliesAccent LC (2000-05) :: 2002 - Hard Shifting Into 2nd Gear (Automatic)
The Accent has been working great recently until the other day when I got in to go to work and now it suddenly shifts very hard into 2nd. And sometimes 3rd.
This problem seems to come and go. Sometimes it will shift smoothly. Other times it will have to reach super high rpm and I will have to let off the gas and slowly accelerate to get it to shift. This seems to happen throughout all the gears and it does not make any difference if overdrive is turned on or off. Also reverse works just fine.
I checked the fluid and it is at the proper level. It does seem to be a little dirty (not burnt) so I am planning on changing the transmission fluid, but something tells me that is not going to solve this issue. It seems like an electrical issue to me. What it could be?
There are no codes at all on the car. Don't know if it matters but the car just turned over to 100k miles. I've been reading on here about all the problems the automatic trannys have in this car but 100k seems a bit early to have any serious transmission problems.
