Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 2004 - Making Click / Tick Noise From Right Side Of Engine At Start Up

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4.7 L. Clock from right side of engine immediately after starting engine. Seems to be in rhythm with engine and increases in frequency as I rev. Gradually subsides over first 5 minutes and not audible after that. Recent small leak of transmission fluid, but I'm thinking that has nothing to do with this.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: Rumbling Noise From Back End When Start To Accelerate

I have a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I absolutely love, but lately a I've been noticing a problem with it gradually getting worse. When I am on my way to work in the morning, and I get on the on ramp to the highway, as I start to accelerate the back end of the car starts to make a rumbling noise. When I look at my gauges the rpm's are going up and down kind of like it doesn't want to shift. The only other time I notice this is when I try to climb a hill on the road or highway. There is no check engine light on. I have had this problem for quite sometime, but just recently noticed it because it has gotten worse. My husband has had a few mechanics drive it, and has asked a few others about it. They either don't know or have a very wide range of things it could be. My friend I work with had a Pontiac Grand Prix. She said that her catalitic converter plugged up and caused her transmission to go out.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 1998 Slow To Shift When Cold - Front Wheel Click On Hard Turns

I have a 1998 Gr Cherokee with an automatic tranny. It is slow to shift when cold and the overdrive shifting works reasonably well but I have been told by a reputable mechanic that the tranny needs a new tranny filter at over $1000. My latest check of the tranny fluid and the level and quality indicates both are good. Should I replace the tranny filter?

Also, for the same above vehicle, when I put the vehicle into a moderately hard turn (right and left), the front wheels audibly click and you can feel the click vibration in the steering wheel when happening.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 2000 - Battery Failed / Clicking Wouldn't Stop When Key Turned On

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee (115,000) and a 15 month old battery that failed. Gauges read fine, but when I tried to start car when key turned, it was clicking. I turned key off, it kept clicking. I took key out of ignition and it continued to click for about 15+ minutes. During this time I stuck key back in and turned key on (all while still clicking) and my needles on gauges were going crazy back and forth. When I turned the key as if to start, the needles on the gauges went BEYOND their normal scope. Almost a Linda Blair effect. Battery was replaced, alternator check was good and it started up perfectly and immediately. Now, a few days later, it labors a bit before starting. How do I diagnose and electrical problem? By the way, the gauges all the while read straight up and down normal.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 2014 - Dash Electronic Console Display Turned Off While Driving

I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a start button and key fob and all the new electronic controls. While driving recently, the dash electronic console display turned off (I thought the car engine had died). It spontaneously lit up again, but all the warning and check engine lights were on. The car would only move forward very slowly (as if stuck in 1st gear). When I was able to pull over safely to the side of the road out of traffic, I was unable to get the car out of drive into park. Because it wasn't in park, I could not turn off the engine! I was afraid to take my foot off the break, fearing it would begin moving, so I couldn't get out to disconnect the battery. Is there any way in these new technology cars to force the engine to shut down in the event the electrical system is malfunctioning?

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 1996 - While Driving It Will Die And Start Again Over And Over

I have a 1996 Jeep Cherokee and am having a problem my mechanic can't figure out. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't, heat or time of day has no influence. It even dies while I am driving. While driving it will die and start again over and over. Sometimes it runs fine with no problems. Have had this problem for 1 1/2 years now. Have relpaced rotor, dist cap, pick up coil, tune up, computer sensor, fuel filter. So far nothing has worked.

I have a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 68,000 miles. For the last 3 days it won't start. When I turn the key all the lights, gauges and air will come on. When I go to start it, all I get is click, click, click, click. When I connect jumper cables it starts right up. I had the battery, alternator and starter checked and they are all working good.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 1995 - White Smoke On Start

We have a beloved 1995 Jeep Gr Cherokee 4L that was our first new car! We have babied it for many years. It now has 173k on it. We took to local Jeep dealer to get all RECALL items taken care of and to have it checked out completely. It was pinging on acceleration and hvac wasn't working. They kept it 5 months and finished all recall stuff and replaced the ENGINE TEMP SENSOR. They also recommended a new trans and a new AC. Since my niece wants it; and she loves it like we do; we took it to an honest transmission shop.

They said trans was fine just needed oil pan gasket, rear main seal and an elec engine diag because trans and engine were not speaking to each other. Now our JEEP is home; sits in driveway all week. When we start the car on Saturday we still have WHITE SMOKE then after driving awhile it goes away. Does not leak oil; does not need coolant; has NEVER over heated. Engine sounds great and it runs great. Had it tested for head gasket a couple of years ago and they said pressure was fine. We have never had to put coolant in it. The dealer and other Mechanics said nothing.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: Start And Run Fine But Nothing On Dashboard Would Work

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has about 165K miles on it. I bought it used in 2004 and a week later, I started experiencing the following problems:

Originally, the Jeep would start and would run fine but nothing on the dashboard would work - gauges, mileage, lights, nothing. AC and power winds also wouldn't work. After several days, everything would start working fine again. This occurred three or four times during the winter. I got it checked out and the shop said that the body control module was shorting out, and that when it was wet was when it was having problems.

In 2005, the Jeep started having an issue with not starting. It would crank but not turn over. I discovered that if I disconnected the battery for a minute and then reconnected it, the Jeep would start up just fine. I've been doing this ever since.

I had the BCM replaced in 2006 and I didn't have any problems with the Jeep starting or with the gauges for about 9 months. Then everything started happening again. Now I have to disconnect the battery about once a month to get the Jeep to start.

I figure there must be something else other than just the BCM being bad since this is the second BCM I've been through. I think there must be something else causing the BCM to go bad, but I don't know what.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: Won't Start On First Several Tries In Mild To Cold Weather Only

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that won't quite start as the temp outside begins to drop into the 70's. It started doing this last winter and is happening again this fall. It sounds like it wants to start but just doesn't get that final ummmmph to start. After several tries and several minutes it will start but how annoying is that! Again this doesn't happen in warm weather only mild and colder. What is the cause of this problem and what to do about it?

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: Loud Noise As Something Dragging Under The Car

Went over a bump on the highway the other day and heard a loud noice as if I was dragging something under the car. I checked but nothing was there. It reminded me of putting a baseball card in your spokes of your bike when you were a kid. It happened twice and the weird thing is that if I put it into reverse and drive about 10ft The problem went away. But something still seems loose and it sounds like it will happen again. I was googling this and it seems like the noise was around where the center differential or drive shaft?

Not sure if the two issues are related or not but thought I would mention it.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 2003 - Have To Disconnect Then Reconnect Battery To Start

I have a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee and randomly it decides not to start unless I disconnect then reconnect the battery. At first when I try to start it every accessory will be off but the A/C recirculation light is on for some reason. When I turn the key all the gauges move sporadically but the engine will not turn over at all, which you can see in the attached video. I disconnect and reconnect the battery and everything works perfectly fine. The only other issue has been that sometimes when I unlock the car (I no longer have keyless entry) the alarm will go off until I start the engine. I have not had both problems at the same time.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 1996 Will Turn Over But Not Start / Gauges Are Dead

I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 152k miles on it. Recently replaced battery. All of sudden yesterday, engine will turn over and try to run but sputters out and dies after about 30 seconds. Cannot maintain idle on it, and none of the gauges rise when you turn on the ignition, so that you cannot see the RPMs and the gas gauge reads empty even though I filled it up two days ago. Tried to start it today and saw the same problem but with no sputtering, engine dies within seconds now.

Jeep - Grandcherokee :: 2004 2WD - Vibration And Noise When Braking

2004 GC, 6 cyc, 2wd. Had TERRIBLE noise & vibration when braking but problem was intermittent, no codes generated. Everybody suspected ABS problem. New pads, new rotors, new ABS module no luck. Frequency increased but severity decreased. Technician finally experienced one occurrence, identified & replaced a weak steering stabilizer. Problem has surfaced again but not so severe and appears to be increasing in frequency.

My best description is when braking from 45-50 mph, Vibration & noise begins at about 35 mph, increasing in intensity until about 18-20 mph then stops. Seems to me that the transmission downshifts and the noise stops. AMCO suggested a cracked flywheel or loose bolts on the torch converter. Also the engine idles at 1100-1200 rpm on start-up then goes to 850 rpm - will not go lower. Does this sound like a transmission problem? The transmission was rebuilt/replaced at about 94,000 miles and the problem started at about 111,000 miles.
